PNE Group Sells Two German Wind Farm Repowering Projects to Private Investors

The PNE Group, an internationally operating clean energy solutions provider, announced on August 5, 2026, the successful sale of two wind farm projects in Germany to a small group of private investors. The projects, “Wulfsdorf A” in Schleswig-Holstein and “Kuhstedt III” in Lower Saxony, have a combined nominal capacity of 45 megawatts (MW). This transaction underscores the growing interest of private investors in renewable energy assets, particularly repowering projects that replace older turbines with more efficient technology.

Both wind farms are repowering projects, which involve replacing older turbines with modern, more powerful wind energy technology. This approach allows for significantly higher renewable electricity generation at sites already used for wind energy production, maximizing the use of existing infrastructure and land. The combined expected electricity generation from these projects will be sufficient to supply the annual electricity demand of approximately 31,000 three-person households.

The “Wulfsdorf A” wind farm, located in the district of Ostholstein in Schleswig-Holstein, will consist of two Vestas V150 turbines with a capacity of 6.0 MW each and two Vestas V162 turbines with a capacity of 6.2 MW each, totaling 24.4 MW. Construction is already underway, with commissioning scheduled for December 2026. The “Kuhstedt III” wind farm, in the district of Rotenburg (Wümme) in Lower Saxony, will have a total capacity of 20.6 MW, comprising two Nordex N175 turbines (6.8 MW each) and one Nordex N163 turbine (7.0 MW). Construction is also in progress, with commissioning expected around the turn of 2026/27.

Roland Stanze, COO of PNE AG, commented on the transaction: “By selling ‘Wulfsdorf A’ and ‘Kuhstedt III’, we continue our successful marketing of high-quality wind farm projects. Both projects demonstrate the value of repowering: we are making more efficient use of existing sites, deploying modern and highly efficient turbine technology, and significantly increasing renewable energy generation. At the same time, the transaction underscores the attractiveness of our projects to investors. Through the operational management services, we will also remain closely connected to the wind farms.”

Operational management for both wind farms will be provided by energy consult GmbH, a subsidiary of the PNE Group, ensuring continued professional oversight and performance optimization. This sale is part of a series of recent disposals by PNE, including the “Romescamps” wind farm in France (10.8 MW), the “Bokel” wind farm in Germany (25.2 MW), a wind farm project in Poland (72 MW), and a photovoltaic project in Poland (approximately 40 MW). These transactions highlight PNE’s active portfolio management and its ability to monetize projects at various stages of development.

The sale of these repowering projects is significant for the renewable energy sector as it demonstrates the financial viability of upgrading existing wind farms. Repowering not only increases capacity and efficiency but also extends the life of valuable sites, contributing to the overall growth of renewable energy capacity. For investors, such projects offer stable, long-term returns backed by proven technology and established infrastructure. PNE’s continued success in selling projects to private investors also indicates a healthy market for renewable energy assets, which is crucial for the transition to a low-carbon economy.

PNE Group, listed on the SDAX, has over 30 years of experience in onshore wind project development and is known for its comprehensive services across the entire life cycle of wind and solar plants, including battery storage solutions. By maintaining a connection through operational management, PNE ensures that its expertise continues to benefit the projects even after sale.

This transaction not only advances PNE’s business strategy but also contributes to Germany’s renewable energy targets by increasing the efficiency and output of existing wind farm sites.
