SIGMA Unveils Ultra-Bright 50mm F1.2 DG DN Art Lens for Mirrorless Cameras

SIGMA Corporation has unveiled its latest addition to the acclaimed Art lens lineup, the SIGMA 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art. Designed exclusively for full-frame mirrorless cameras, this ultra-fast standard prime lens boasts an impressive F1.2 maximum aperture, making it the brightest 50mm prime lens in SIGMA’s lineup.

Despite its remarkable brightness, the SIGMA 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art is remarkably compact and lightweight, weighing just 745g (26.3oz) for the L-Mount version. This makes it the lightest lens in its class, suitable for a wide range of applications and shooting environments.

At its core, the lens delivers outstanding optical performance, with high resolution and rich, beautiful bokeh from its widest F1.2 aperture throughout the entire focus range. This is achieved through SIGMA’s advanced optical design, which corrects various aberrations and incorporates the company’s first 13-blade rounded diaphragm for stunning circular bokeh.

The lens also features dual HLA-driven floating focusing, which minimizes focus breathing and ensures smooth, silent autofocus for both stills and video. Additionally, the manual focus ring can be assigned to linear or non-linear response on compatible L-Mount cameras, offering greater control for precise focusing.

Designed with professionals in mind, the SIGMA 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art boasts a robust, dust and splash-resistant construction, along with a water and oil-repellent coating on the front element. It also includes a range of shooting assist functions, such as an AFL button, aperture ring with lock switch, and a focus mode switch.

The SIGMA 50mm F1.2 DG DN | Art lens will be available in L-Mount and Sony E-mount versions, with a retail price of $1,399 when it launches on April 18, 2024, through authorized retail partners.
