SydeLabs Secures $2.5M to Safeguard Generative AI Adoption

As the adoption of generative AI continues to surge, concerns over its potential security vulnerabilities and risks are mounting globally. Addressing this emerging issue, cybersecurity startup SydeLabs has secured $2.5 million in seed funding to build comprehensive AI security and risk management solutions for enterprises.

The funding round, led by RTP Global and Picus Capital, with participation from marquee angel investors, will enable SydeLabs to develop solutions that identify and prevent security and safety vulnerabilities in enterprise AI systems, mitigating cybersecurity attacks and abuse.

Founded by Ruchir Patwa, a cybersecurity expert with over a decade of experience at companies like Google and Mobile Premier League, and Ankita Kumari, a veteran product leader with expertise in fraud and risk management from McKinsey & Company, Mobile Premier League, and CRED, SydeLabs aims to make AI applications safe, secure, and resistant to abuse.

‘While we were working on solving security and fraud-led business problems, we saw how business growth and profitability was fuelled by the adoption of risk mitigation measures, despite these measures usually being seen as cost sinks. Since then we knew we wanted to build solutions in the vulnerability and risk management space to address these growing concerns,’ said Ankita Kumari, co-founder at SydeLabs.

Kumari further emphasized the increasing cybersecurity attack surface due to the integration of human-like elements in AI systems, as well as compliance and reputational risks associated with the generation of undesirable content.

SydeLabs’ market research with CISOs globally has revealed a growing acknowledgment of these vulnerabilities as enterprises rapidly adopt generative AI for various business use cases. By focusing on the intent of attackers rather than traditional pattern-matching approaches, the company aims to provide a comprehensive cybersecurity offering.

‘We are building a comprehensive platform for risk management of Generative AI systems, across the entire development lifecycle. This can give a huge productivity boost to enterprises and prevent costs associated with inaction around security and compliance threats. We want to give confidence to enterprises to deploy GenAI applications without having to worry about security and safety blindspots,’ said Ruchir Patwa, co-founder at SydeLabs.
