Global Turbine Asia Forges Strategic Partnerships to Strengthen Malaysia’s Aerospace Ecosystem

Global Turbine Asia Sdn. Bhd., a Malaysian engine maintenance, repair and overhaul provider, has entered into strategic partnerships aimed at advancing the country’s aerospace and defense capabilities through commercial cooperation, talent development, and research initiatives. The company exchanged two Memoranda of Understanding with Airbus Defence and Space and Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, along with a Note of Understanding with PERHEBAT, witnessed by Malaysia’s Minister of Defence.

The agreement with Airbus Defence and Space focuses on evaluating opportunities to develop Malaysia’s military aircraft maintenance capabilities. This partnership will assess GTA as a potential beneficiary under an Industrial Collaboration Programme, which could advance local aerospace self-reliance through knowledge transfer, capability development, and supply chain integration. These developments are pending necessary approvals but represent significant steps toward strengthening Malaysia’s position in the regional aerospace industry.

Through its collaboration with Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia, GTA aims to strengthen industry-academia ties in research, innovation, and talent development. Potential areas of cooperation include joint research and development projects, training programs, postgraduate pathways, technical advisory services, and the establishment of workshops and centers of expertise. These initiatives may also involve industry-on-campus programs, subject to separate agreements and approvals where required.

The agreement with PERHEBAT supports the career transition of retiring Malaysian Armed Forces personnel and veterans by providing industrial training, workplace exposure, and potential employment opportunities. This collaboration includes job-skills alignment, program monitoring, and joint initiatives aimed at enhancing the employability and well-being of military veterans. Dato’ Nonee Ashirin Dato Mohd Radzi, Executive Chairman of Global Turbine Asia, emphasized that these partnerships reflect the company’s commitment to building a stronger, more resilient platform for the industry’s future development.

As a Certified Maintenance Centre for Safran Helicopter Engines, GTA provides comprehensive engine support solutions including technical assistance, spare parts, and training services. The company maintains multiple certifications including DGTA Approved Maintenance Organization, CAAM Maintenance Organization Approval, and EASA Part 145 Maintenance Organization Approval.
