On Juneteenth, June 19, 2026, faith-based social impact leader Alvin ‘Testimony’ Bowman will release his new single ‘You Lift Me Up,’ featuring Philadelphia MC Karl ‘Dice Raw’ Jenkins and The Choir Boyz. The song, a declaration of survival and faith, marks a milestone in Bowman’s journey from rock bottom to purposeful living.
Bowman’s path to this moment is remarkable. A lacrosse prodigy who earned a Division I scholarship to Drexel University and was later inducted into the university’s Athletic Hall of Fame, he seemed destined for achievement. However, crack cocaine consumed nearly two decades of his life, leading to homelessness, incarceration, multiple failed rehabilitation attempts, and a gunshot wound to the head in Baltimore in February 2009. Despite these hardships, Bowman found lasting sobriety on December 10, 2014, through faith, community, and an unwavering will to change.
Today, Bowman is over a decade clean and sober, a top-performing sales professional, a masters lacrosse competitor with the Rusty Cannons, and a husband and father. He is the voice behind ‘Testimony,’ a faith-rooted spoken word brand built on the belief that no one is too far gone for restoration. Through his nonprofit organization, MindzEye, he develops mentorship and outreach programs for underprivileged youth and inspires audiences across the country.
The single’s Juneteenth release is intentional. ‘Freedom, in all its forms, runs through every bar,’ Bowman says. ”You Lift Me Up’ is the first glimpse into what this project is really about. This music is my testimony. It gives all glory to God for transforming my life and showing me that redemption is real.’
The collaboration features Karl ‘Dice Raw’ Jenkins, a Philadelphia lyricist and longtime collaborator of The Legendary Roots Crew, and The Choir Boyz, whose gospel harmonies elevate the track’s message of uplift. The song reflects the reach of Bowman’s story, resonating both in faith communities and in broader cultural conversations about redemption and second chances.
‘You Lift Me Up’ is the lead single from Bowman’s forthcoming album Sticky Notes, set for release on August 17, 2026. The album takes its name from the affirmation notes Bowman placed on his mirror during his darkest recovery seasons—daily reminders that there was still reason to hold on. ‘The album is the artistic expression of those notes,’ Bowman explains. ‘Honest, personal, and written for anyone who needs to hear that restoration is possible.’
The single will be available on Bandcamp under ‘ab.testimony’ and on all streaming platforms beginning June 19, 2026. More information about Bowman’s story can be found at www.alvintestimonybowman.com.
