REPLOID Group Spins Off Fertilizer Business into Dedicated Company REPLOID REGREEN GmbH

REPLOID Group AG has announced the consolidation of its fertilizer business into a newly formed subsidiary, REPLOID REGREEN GmbH, based in Wels, Austria. The move marks a strategic step toward the company’s entry into the organic fertilizer market, leveraging insect frass from its own ReFarmUnits. Andreas Steinbüchler, a veteran with over 25 years in the fertilizer industry, has been appointed Managing Director to lead the new entity.

The spin-off is designed to provide a focused structure for developing and marketing organic fertilizers made from insect frass, a nutrient-rich by-product generated when Black Soldier Fly larvae process organic residues from the food industry. REGREEN’s initial product lineup includes fertilizer sticks for potted plants, slated for launch in fall 2026, followed by a lawn fertilizer and an agricultural fertilizer for commercial farming later that year.

Europe’s fertilizer market faces structural challenges, including heavy reliance on imported mineral fertilizers, tightening regulations, and soil degradation. Organic fertilizers offer a complementary solution by improving nutrient efficiency, building soil organic matter, and enhancing drought resilience. This positions REGREEN to address the growing demand for locally produced, circular solutions in both agriculture and horticulture.

“Europe imports fertilizer while its soils are being depleted. Neither is a viable option in the long run,” said Andreas Steinbüchler, Managing Director of REPLOID REGREEN. “With REGREEN, we are deliberately building what has been missing: a regionally produced organic fertilizer that makes soils more fertile over the long term. With a focused company within the REPLOID Group, we gain the speed and agility to successfully develop the market with innovative products.”

Philip Pauer, CEO and Founder of REPLOID Group AG, emphasized the strategic importance of the fertilizer segment. “With REGREEN, we are giving our fertilizer business its own, effective structure and, in Andreas Steinbüchler, a leader with many years of industry experience. This underscores that the fertilizer segment is a strategic growth pillar for us, with enormous scaling potential.”

Steinbüchler brings extensive industry expertise, having served as Chief Commercial Officer of LAT Nitrogen GmbH, Europe’s second-largest fertilizer producer, from 2018 to 2023, and as President of the Fertilizers Europe association from 2021 to 2023. His background in sales, supply chain, and finance will be instrumental in steering REGREEN’s market entry.

REPLOID Group AG, founded in 2020 and listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange since July 2025, operates modular insect-rearing plants that convert regional organic residues into valuable products. The company’s ReFarmUnits allow customers to rear Black Soldier Fly larvae, which can be processed into proteins and fats for animal feed, while the insect frass is repurposed into premium organic fertilizers. This circular economy model aims to efficiently utilize food residues and conserve resources.
