The announcement, made from Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, on July 21, 2026, highlights the growing complexity in payment networks as major schemes shift from legacy 6-digit BIN standards to 8-digit and 11-digit sub-ranges, including DPANs from Apple Pay and Google Pay.
Standard lookup tables often fail to identify exact issuing banks or network capabilities under these new formats, leading to misrouted transactions, increased interchange costs, and elevated decline rates for online merchants. BinBase’s 2026 dataset aims to resolve this by mapping complex sub-ranges down to the issuer level while maintaining backward compatibility with legacy payment engines. The dataset includes 29 granular attributes per BIN range, such as Reg II Durbin exemption status, Fast Funds capability, and regional co-badging indicators.
