Lantern Pharma Receives U.S. Patent Allowance for LP-184 Biomarker-Based Treatment Methods

Lantern Pharma (NASDAQ: LTRN) announced that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has issued a Notice of Allowance for a patent application covering methods of selecting and treating patients with ovarian, primary liver, kidney, and thyroid cancers using its investigational therapy LP-184 (zirdafulven). The allowed claims focus on a three-gene biomarker signature comprising elevated expression of PTGR1, PTPN14, and ASPH to identify patients who may benefit from treatment with LP-184.

The company’s RADR artificial intelligence platform was instrumental in identifying this biomarker signature, supporting the development of a precision medicine approach for LP-184. Lantern reported a 45% disease control rate among patients treated at or above the effective therapeutic dose in its Phase 1a trial. The company plans to advance LP-184 into multiple Phase 1b/2 precision oncology studies during 2026 while continuing to expand its intellectual property portfolio.

This patent allowance is a significant step for Lantern Pharma as it strengthens the company’s position in precision oncology, where treatments are tailored to patients based on specific biomarkers. By identifying patients who are more likely to respond to LP-184, the company aims to improve treatment outcomes and reduce unnecessary side effects. The use of AI in biomarker discovery highlights the growing role of computational tools in drug development.

Lantern Pharma’s clinical pipeline also includes LP-284, a TC-NER targeting compound for hematologic and solid tumors, and LP-300, a cisplatin/ethacraplatin analog being evaluated in the HARMONIC Phase 2 trial for never-smoker patients with relapsed advanced lung adenocarcinoma. LP-184 is also being developed for pediatric CNS cancers through Starlight Therapeutics, the company’s wholly owned CNS-focused subsidiary.

Additionally, Lantern recently launched withZeta.ai, a multi-agentic AI co-scientist platform now commercially available as a subscription-based research platform, representing a new revenue stream. The company operates an AI Center of Excellence in Bengaluru, India, and is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
