Quantum BioPharma (NASDAQ: QNTM) (CSE: QNTM) is advancing its lead drug candidate Lucid-MS toward a Phase 2 clinical trial, while also capitalizing on the commercial revenue from its unbuzzd product, according to Executive Co-Chairman and Co-Founder Anthony Durkacz in a recent BioMedWire Podcast. The company is pursuing a dual strategy of clinical-stage pharmaceutical development and commercial sales to address neurodegenerative, metabolic and alcohol-misuse conditions.
Lucid-MS, a patented new chemical entity, aims to prevent and reverse myelin degradation, the underlying mechanism of multiple sclerosis. Durkacz noted that the company has filed an investigational new drug application for a Phase 2 trial, which could represent the candidate’s first administration to human MS patients. The drug targets mobility damage associated with MS, a critical unmet need for patients.
Beyond its clinical pipeline, Quantum BioPharma is generating revenue through unbuzzd, a commercially available product designed to accelerate alcohol metabolism. The company spun out the over-the-counter version to Unbuzzd Wellness Inc. (UWI), led by industry veterans, but retains a 19.84% ownership stake as of March 31, 2026, as detailed on unbuzzd.com. The agreement includes royalty payments of 7% of sales until Quantum BioPharma receives $250 million, after which the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. Additionally, Quantum BioPharma retains 100% of rights to develop pharmaceutical and medical formulations of the product.
Durkacz emphasized that combining clinical-stage assets with commercial products provides a balanced risk profile and near-term revenue potential. The company’s focus on neurodegenerative disorders, metabolic conditions and alcohol misuse aligns with significant market opportunities.
Quantum BioPharma’s strategy underscores its commitment to building a portfolio of innovative therapies. For more details on the podcast, visit the full article at https://ibn.fm/IWnPQ. Updates on the company are available in its newsroom at https://ibn.fm/QNTM.
