The Supervisory Board of ams-OSRAM AG has approved the reappointment of Chief Executive Officer Aldo Kamper, extending his contract through September 30, 2031, according to a press release dated July 30, 2026. The new contract takes effect October 1, 2026, replacing a previous term set to expire on March 31, 2027. Kamper has served as CEO since April 2023.
The extension signals strong board confidence in Kamper’s leadership, particularly his strategic overhaul of the company. Dr. Margarete Haase, Chairwoman of the Supervisory Board, said: “As CEO, Aldo Kamper has strategically realigned amsOSRAM and laid the foundation for sustainable growth. Under his leadership, key milestones have been achieved — from the successful implementation of the ‘Re-establish the Base’ efficiency program to the strengthening of the financial base and the clear positioning of amsOSRAM in the attractive digital photonics field.”
Kamper’s tenure has been marked by decisive actions to refocus the company. Shortly after taking office, he launched the “Re-establish the Base” program to streamline the portfolio and improve profitability. Under his guidance, the group’s structures were simplified, business units gained clearer responsibilities, and significant debt reduction was achieved. The sale of the non-optical sensing business, completed on July 1, 2026, further sharpened the company’s focus on its optical core and emerging digital photonics areas such as augmented reality and data communication.

Kamper brings deep industry experience to the role. He began his career at OSRAM in Regensburg in 1994, holding various leadership positions in Europe and the United States in LED and specialty lighting. As CEO of the Opto Semiconductors business unit from 2010, he pioneered microLED technology, dynamic front-end lighting, and high-performance LED roadmaps while expanding global manufacturing. In 2018, he became CEO of Leoni AG, a provider of energy and data management solutions for the automotive industry. He holds a degree in business administration from Maastricht University and an MBA from Stanford University.
The extension comes as ams OSRAM positions itself in the competitive digital photonics market, which encompasses sensing and light solutions for automotive, industrial, medical, and consumer electronics. The company, headquartered in Premstaetten, Austria, with co-headquarters in Munich, Germany, reported EUR 3.3 billion in revenues for 2025 and employs around 18,500 people.
