Hamburg-based wind turbine manufacturer Nordex Group has secured a significant order in Romania, underscoring its growing footprint in the country’s renewable energy sector. The company received a contract from Swedish developer OX2 to supply and install 11 N175/6.X turbines for the Urleasca wind farm, with a total capacity of 77 MW. The deal also includes a 35-year Premium Service agreement, ensuring long-term operational support.
The Urleasca project, located near the village of Urleasca in Brăila County, approximately 150 kilometers northeast of Bucharest, is set to commence construction in the third quarter of 2026, with commissioning expected in the second half of 2028. The wind farm holds a long-term Contract-for-Difference (CfD) with the Romanian state, providing revenue stability and contributing to the country’s energy transition goals.
In parallel, OX2 has sold the ready-to-build wind farm to Norwegian renewable energy solutions provider Scatec ASA. OX2 will oversee the entire construction phase, leveraging its project development expertise to ensure timely delivery.
This order marks another milestone in the Nordex Group’s expansion in Romania, where the company has contracted more than 500 MW in recent months. The N175/6.X turbine is part of Nordex’s latest generation designed for low-wind sites, offering high efficiency and reliability. The project aligns with Romania’s ambitious renewable energy targets, aiming to increase the share of clean power in its energy mix.
OX2, a leading renewable energy developer with a portfolio of about 33 GW across onshore and offshore wind, solar, and storage, operates in five European markets and Australia. The company is owned by EQT, one of the world’s largest private equity investors. Scatec ASA, the new owner of the Urleasca wind farm, is a prominent player in renewable energy solutions, with a focus on solar, wind, and hydro power.
The Nordex Group has commissioned more than 64 GW of wind power capacity in over 40 markets since 1985, with consolidated sales of approximately EUR 7.6 billion in 2025. The company’s product portfolio includes onshore turbines in the 4 to 7 MW+ classes, designed for markets with limited space and constrained grid capacity. This order further solidifies Nordex’s position in Eastern Europe and demonstrates its commitment to supporting the region’s renewable energy growth.
The Urleasca wind farm is expected to contribute significantly to Romania’s renewable energy capacity, providing clean electricity to thousands of households and reducing carbon emissions. The project’s CfD ensures stable revenue, making it an attractive investment for Scatec ASA.
