Western Star Resources Positions for U.S. Tungsten Resurgence with Three Past-Producing Assets and 2026 Drilling Plans

Western Star Resources Inc. (CSE: WSR) (OTC: WSRIF) (FRA: 4K2) has rapidly transformed from a junior explorer into a significant U.S. tungsten player, assembling a portfolio of three past-producing assets in Nevada and New Mexico and outlining a clear path toward drilling and potential resource definition. The company’s strategic pivot underscores the growing importance of domestic critical mineral supply chains, particularly for tungsten, a metal essential to defense and industrial applications.

Since the end of 2025, Western Star has expanded its Rowland Tungsten Property by approximately 170%, acquired the adjacent White Star Tungsten Project, and secured a 100% interest in the Eagle Point Tungsten Project in New Mexico. These assets, all historically productive, provide the company with a diversified platform across two established mining jurisdictions. The company has also completed modern exploration programs, including high-resolution UAV magnetic geophysical surveys and extensive surface sampling, identifying a one-kilometre tungsten-skarn geochemical corridor at Rowland with peak soil results of approximately 0.14% WO3.

The centerpiece of Western Star’s near-term strategy is Eagle Point, where historical U.S. Government estimates outlined approximately 100,000 to 200,000 tons of tungsten-bearing material grading around 0.5% WO3. Modern USGS sampling has returned exceptionally high-grade results, including a selective composite sample grading 27.6% WO3 and 0.98% molybdenum. Despite this, the project has seen very limited historical drilling, and a government-supported exploration program from the 1950s was never executed. This leaves significant untested potential, which Western Star aims to address with a planned maiden drill program in 2026, subject to permitting and other considerations.

“Eagle Point is an important opportunity because we are not starting from first principles,” said Blake Morgan, President and CEO of Western Star Resources. “We intend to drill the historically identified mineralization and generate the geological and analytical information required to determine whether Eagle Point can support a maiden NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate. At the same time, we intend to test beyond the historical footprint.”

The company has engaged Dahrouge Geological Consulting to assist with technical evaluation and drill targeting across its portfolio. At Eagle Point, the focus is on integrating historical data with modern datasets to build a geological model that can systematically test the historical estimate. The drilling strategy aims to validate the historical model, test extensions along strike and at depth, and gather modern data to support potential resource estimation.

Western Star’s progress is bolstered by a strengthened balance sheet, having closed an oversubscribed private placement of approximately C$3.69 million. The company has also submitted an application to the U.S. Defense Industrial Base Consortium solicitation for reliable supplies of strategic critical minerals, highlighting its alignment with national security priorities.

The broader U.S. tungsten market is tightly controlled by a few global suppliers, with China dominating production. This has prompted renewed interest in domestic sources. Western Star’s portfolio of past-producing assets, which have historically contributed to U.S. tungsten output, positions the company to potentially help reduce this dependence. However, the company cautions that historical production and estimates are not indicative of future results and that there is no assurance of discovering economically viable deposits.

With Rowland advancing toward drilling, White Star undergoing its first integrated exploration program, and Eagle Point being prepared for a maiden drill campaign, Western Star’s 2026 focus is clearly on execution. The company aims to discover and define meaningful domestic tungsten resources, contributing to a secure North American critical-mineral supply chain. As the company transitions from acquisition to drilling, its success will hinge on the outcomes of these initial modern exploration efforts.
