Velo and Tomorrowland Launch ‘Echoes of Tomorrowland’ to Combat Social Disconnect

As digital interactions increasingly replace face-to-face encounters, a new global study from Velo, Europe’s leading nicotine pouch brand, reveals that nearly 40% of adults find building meaningful connections harder with age. To address this, Velo has partnered with Tomorrowland to launch ‘Echoes of Tomorrowland,’ a worldwide network of live events and synchronized livestreams designed to recreate the festival’s unique atmosphere of spontaneous community.

The research, conducted across the UK, Spain, Pakistan, Poland, and Austria, highlights key barriers to social connection: 28% struggle to find people with similar interests, 27% feel awkward in social settings, 24% fear rejection, and 21% worry about being judged. However, the dancefloor emerges as a powerful antidote. 30% of respondents say they feel most able to be their authentic selves on the dancefloor, and 61% feel more comfortable expressing themselves when they see others doing the same. This sense of liberation fosters deeper bonds, with 27% of 25-35 year olds believing friendships formed at live music events are more genuine than those made elsewhere.

“The dancefloor is one of the few places where people feel completely free to express who they are without judgment,” said Korolova, the Ukrainian house and techno DJ who headlined the campaign’s launch event. “That’s the energy I felt throughout the night in Ibiza, thanks to Velo – it was incredible to watch everyone let go, show up as their true selves, and celebrate their originality together.”

The campaign kicked off with a social experiment at the Tomorrowland Store in Ibiza on July 17, where guests received a physical butterfly half and were challenged to find a stranger holding the matching half. This simple act of collaboration transformed a room of strangers into an active community. The event featured a livestream from Tomorrowland’s mainstage and was attended by fans, media, and creators from around the world.

Supporting artist Camden Cox noted, “What stayed with me from the night was watching total strangers connect so easily through a shared experience. Sometimes all people need is a small invitation to start a conversation, and seeing the crowd use the physical butterflies to break the ice and dance together was pure magic.”

Malky Brown, Global Head of Content & Partnerships at BAT, explained the campaign’s motivation: “With ‘Echoes of Tomorrowland,’ we wanted to recreate the sense of connection that makes the festival so special. By encouraging people to step outside their comfort zones and connect with others, we brought to life Velo’s belief that self-expression can bring people closer together.”

The ‘Echoes of Tomorrowland’ events are part of Velo’s broader mission to champion self-expression. By creating spaces where people can freely express themselves, Velo aims to prove that self-expression is contagious and can break down the barriers that hinder meaningful connections. As the world becomes increasingly digital, initiatives like this highlight the enduring importance of shared experiences in fostering genuine human connection. Velo’s research underscores a growing need for communities built around common passions, and ‘Echoes of Tomorrowland’ offers a blueprint for how brands can facilitate these connections on a global scale.
