Intellitec Solutions, a Newark, Delaware-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) advisor and reseller, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this week. The milestone is not just a look back at a quarter century of business, but a testament to the company’s ability to adapt alongside the technology it supports. From its roots as an offshoot of an accounting firm to its current status as a leading Sage and Microsoft partner, the company’s journey underscores the importance of persistent expertise in an industry defined by constant change.
The company’s origins trace back to 1986, when the team was part of an accounting firm and repeatedly encountered clients struggling with accounting software that failed to meet their needs. With no one else able to help, the firm’s team, drawing on their CPA knowledge, stepped in to solve these problems. This problem-solving niche quickly evolved into a standalone business focused not on selling software, but on helping clients use their existing technology more effectively.
“That’s the part of our story I’m proudest of,” said Rick Sommer, President of Intellitec Solutions and a founding team member. “We didn’t start out trying to sell anyone anything. We started out solving a problem our clients actually had. Twenty-five years later, that’s still the whole job. Helping organizations use technology intelligently, not just use more of it. Everything else we’ve built follows from that.”
Over the years, the technology landscape has shifted dramatically—from on-premise servers to cloud-native platforms, from manual data entry to automated, real-time reporting. Yet, the core team has remained remarkably stable. Fourteen of Intellitec’s employees have been with the company since its earliest days, and their accumulated experience has become a key differentiator. This deep tenure allows the team to apply over two decades of pattern recognition to whatever platform a client is using today.
This stability has fueled growth. What began as a fourteen-person team has expanded into a 42-person practice, and Intellitec is now recognized as a leading partner for Sage Intacct and Microsoft Dynamics. The company’s success also depends on a strong network of technology partners, including PointClickCare, Solver, and others, whose platforms Intellitec has helped clients implement.
“The tools we use today look nothing like the ones we started on, and honestly, that’s the fun part of the job. There’s always something new to learn,” said Tom Rogers, Senior ERP Advisor at Intellitec and one of the first fourteen employees. “But the instinct for what a client actually needs hasn’t changed since day one. If anything, having seen so many platforms and so many trends come and go makes it easier to tell clients what’s actually going to matter for their business, and what’s just noise.”
Intellitec plans to mark the anniversary throughout the year with content spotlighting its team, clients, and lessons learned from a quarter century of ERP implementations and support. As the team sees it, the goal remains unchanged: technology is only as good as the guidance behind it.
