Tempest Droneworx Launches Corvus MRDR Platform to Streamline Autonomous Systems Development

Tempest Droneworx has announced the commercial availability of Corvus MRDR (Modular Robotics Development & Reporting), a platform designed to transform how autonomous systems are developed and tested. The system, which originated from the company’s internal engineering needs, addresses a significant bottleneck in the industry: the high cost and complexity of moving from simulation to real-world testing.

Developers often spend substantial time and resources on aircraft, crews, ranges, travel, weather, and hardware before they can even begin testing. Corvus MRDR aims to change that by allowing engineers to test their own algorithms and control methods at scale. The platform enables teams to start with 20 simulated aircraft operating in real-world coordinates, then progressively replace simulated vehicles with physical ones without altering their existing workflow. This hybrid approach lets developers validate their systems incrementally, reducing the risk of costly failures during early testing phases.

According to Ty Audronis, Chief Technology Officer of Tempest Droneworx, the platform is not about commercializing their control algorithms but rather the engineering environment that helped them build them. “Corvus MRDR gave us the freedom to try more ideas, fail without breaking expensive hardware, and go to the field when we were ready—not because we needed the field to find out if something worked,” he said.

The platform works alongside a customer’s existing tools and control architecture, ensuring that clients retain ownership of their algorithms, methodologies, workflows, and intellectual property. It currently supports PX4 and ArduPilot through distributed Core Robotics Object Simulators (CROS), with additional firmware types in beta and future updates anticipated.

A key component is the Robotics Aggregation & Visualization Node (RAVN), which combines simulated and physical vehicle telemetry with data from ADS-B, Remote ID, RADAR, and other sources in a real-time 3D environment. Missions can be recorded and replayed for detailed analysis, providing developers with valuable insights.

The product line includes the MRDR-1, stackable MRDR-2 Expansion systems, and the eight-display MRDR-187 Enterprise, which has already been delivered to the University of Houston Robotics Department. NDAA-compliant configurations are available for defense applications.

Dr. Dana Abramovitz, CEO of Tempest Droneworx, emphasized the collaborative potential of the platform. “The next generation of autonomous systems won’t be built by any one company working alone,” she said. “By making Corvus MRDR available, we’re giving researchers, developers, industry, and government another tool to move faster and advance the next generation of autonomous systems together.”

Corvus MRDR is available for pre-order now, with commercial deliveries beginning in October 2026. A defense-specific version, Corvus MRDR Defense, is scheduled for December 2026. The Corvus Platform Pipeline Beta Program is also open for early access to features under development.
