Angkor Resources Completes Initial Drilling at Andong Bor Copper-Gold Target in Cambodia

Angkor Resources Corp. (TSXV: ANK, OTCQB: ANKOF) announced on August 19, 2026, that it has completed the initial phase of a planned 2,800-meter diamond drilling program at the Andong Bor copper-gold target in Cambodia. The first 1,099 meters were drilled in mid-July at the Thmei North (TN) target, a one-square-kilometer copper anomaly, with two of the three holes intersecting good porphyry and skarn mineralization over their 400-meter depths.

According to Dennis Ouellette, VP Exploration, “Portions of skarn were especially well mineralized,” and the third hole contained a run of over 200 meters with continuous pyrite mineralization up to 20%. The program is staged around Cambodia’s wet season, with the remaining 1,700 meters scheduled to be drilled in early 2027 once fields are dry and crops harvested.

The Andong Bor license spans 100.28 square kilometers across Oddar Meanchey and Banteay Meanchey provinces. Drilling in 2025 identified north-northwest striking, steeply west dipping structures controlling mineralization. Holes are being drilled to the east to better intersect mineralized beds, maximizing contact with potassic-altered sediments adjacent to feldspar porphyry diorite dikes.

The core from the completed holes is currently being logged, with sampling and assaying to follow. The second phase will also include activity on the Thmei South target. This systematic approach aims to define the extent and grade of the copper-gold mineralization, which could potentially establish Cambodia as a significant mineral producer.

Angkor Resources is a leading resource explorer and developer in Cambodia, holding two mineral exploration licenses through its subsidiary Angkor Gold Corp. Co., Ltd. The company also has an onshore oil and gas license, Block VIII, covering approximately 4,095 square kilometers, where it has identified multiple drill targets and plans to drill Cambodia’s first privately financed exploratory wells.

The results from this initial drilling are crucial for the company’s future exploration strategy. Positive assays could lead to an expanded resource estimate and attract further investment. The company’s progress in Cambodia is being closely watched by the mining industry as it could unlock the country’s mineral potential, potentially boosting the local economy and positioning Cambodia as a new frontier for copper and gold exploration in Southeast Asia.

Investors and stakeholders will be eagerly awaiting the assay results from the initial holes, which are expected in the coming weeks. The successful completion of the second phase in 2027 will provide a more comprehensive understanding of the Thmei North and Thmei South targets, guiding the company’s next steps in developing the Andong Bor property.
