Nexum Group AG, a Munich-based residential real estate developer, has appointed Sebastian Holl to its Management Board as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Holl, who brings three decades of experience in international capital markets, will oversee the company’s finance function, financing activities, and capital markets strategy. He joins CEO Philipp von Erffa and Chief People & Legal Officer Claudia Vucak on the board.
The appointment comes as Nexum Group aims to scale its operations and strengthen its position in Germany’s competitive real estate market. Holl’s extensive background includes senior roles at major U.S. investment banks such as Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs, as well as at Baader Bank, where he served as Head of Corporate Broking. In that capacity, he supported numerous companies in accessing international institutional investors, conducted over 1,000 roadshows, and advised on transactions totaling more than EUR 1 billion.
Dr. Johannes von Bismarck, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, highlighted the strategic importance of the hire. “With Sebastian Holl, we are gaining a proven corporate finance and capital markets expert with a first-class investor network,” he said. “His appointment marks an important milestone for the planned scaling of Nexum Group and supplements a Management Board that is exceptionally well positioned in both breadth and depth to drive the Company’s next phase of growth with focus and determination.”
Holl expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity, noting that Nexum Group addresses two key challenges in the residential real estate market: project financing and creating an attractive product for both investors and home seekers. “The business model is consistently designed around a reduced risk profile, with a focus on projects with advanced building rights, short project durations, and efficient capital rotation,” he explained. “This leads to faster turnover, stronger cash flows, and, as a result, structurally greater attractiveness for all capital partners.”
Nexum Group differentiates itself from traditional project developers by focusing on residential projects in Germany’s top-7 cities that already have building permits or are eligible for approval in the near term. The company carries out projects through established general contractors and manages marketing through its own and partner sales networks. This approach eliminates significant development risks, shortens project durations to 15 to 30 months, and reduces capital tied up while ensuring high planning certainty.
The company’s current deal pipeline comprises a development volume of over one billion euros, reflecting its ambitious growth trajectory. With Holl’s appointment, Nexum Group is well-positioned to leverage his expertise in capital markets to attract institutional investors and family offices, supporting the company’s scaling efforts.
Holl’s network among small- and mid-cap investors across Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom is expected to be particularly valuable as Nexum Group seeks to expand its financing options and enhance its capital markets strategy. His track record in supporting growth companies aligns with Nexum’s data-driven business model, which emphasizes rapid implementation, capital turnover, and scalability.
The appointment underscores Nexum Group’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team as it navigates the evolving real estate landscape. With a focus on reducing risk and accelerating project timelines, the company aims to deliver value to both investors and home seekers while achieving sustainable growth.
