Search Atlas Migrates Its Website from WordPress to Next.js, Citing Plugin Sprawl and AI Search Demands

Search Atlas, an AI-powered SEO and marketing platform serving more than 30,000 customers and 5,000 agencies worldwide, has completed a full migration of its own website, searchatlas.com, from WordPress to Next.js. The company, founded in 2021 by Manick Bhan, who also developed the autonomous SEO agent OTTO SEO, announced the move on August 18, 2026.

The migration was driven by the challenges of scaling a WordPress site over eight years. While WordPress offered a fast starting point and straightforward extensibility, the platform’s plugin-and-theme architecture became increasingly difficult to maintain as the site grew. Each new page template, plugin, or theme customization added complexity and overhead, a pattern common to fast-growing companies that outgrow WordPress’s original design for smaller footprints.

Search Atlas sees the shift as a response to the evolving web landscape. With AI search and agentic browsers changing how people and machines find and read websites, speed and performance have become more critical than ever. WordPress’s plugin-and-theme approach, though flexible, works against that goal: every added plugin means more code for the browser to load and more potential points of failure. By rebuilding searchatlas.com as a static HTML site on Next.js, the company aims to eliminate the accumulated overhead and ensure fast load times as the site continues to expand.

More significant than the technology change is who now manages the site. With the migration complete, the entire searchatlas.com website is under the direct, agentic management of the Search Atlas platform and its Atlas Agent. Technical fixes, on-page SEO changes, new landing pages, conversion rate improvements, paid-media landing pages, and A/B and multivariate testing are now handled directly through the platform, without requiring tickets to developers familiar with WordPress specifics. This shift demonstrates the platform’s capability to manage websites agentically, a service the company offers to its customers.

Search Atlas is positioning the migration as a practical proof point rather than an internal engineering update. The company’s own marketing site now serves as a live example of the agentic website management its platform provides, operating without the plugin sprawl and maintenance overhead associated with WordPress at scale. For prospective customers evaluating whether an AI-managed site can perform in production under real traffic, Search Atlas points to its own domain as the working test case.

“We built our own site on WordPress for eight years because it was easy, and then we outgrew it the same way our customers do,” said Arman Advani, Partner at Search Atlas. “Moving to Next.js and putting the whole site under Atlas Agent isn’t just faster pages – it’s us running our own website exactly the way we tell customers to run theirs.”

The move underscores a broader trend: as AI-driven search and agentic browsing become more prevalent, website performance and streamlined management are becoming competitive advantages. Search Atlas’s migration highlights the potential for companies to reduce technical debt and improve speed by adopting modern frameworks like Next.js and leveraging AI to handle ongoing site maintenance.
