In response to the growing threat of GPS jamming and spoofing in modern conflict zones, SPARC AI Inc. This live service enables drones to obtain accurate positioning data even when GPS signals are unavailable, a capability that is becoming increasingly vital for military and commercial unmanned operations.
The Overwatch network operates by having aircraft send sensor data through an API to a data center, where the computation is performed and positioning information is returned in approximately one-third of a second. Notably, this process requires no additional equipment or software installation on the aircraft itself, leveraging the low-cost inertial sensors already present in most commercial drones. The network is designed to scale automatically as more aircraft connect, with plans to expand across multiple geographic regions.
SPARC AI has identified Ukraine as a key proving ground for Overwatch, given the intense electronic warfare environment there. The company has invited Ukrainian drone manufacturers and other stakeholders with whom it has existing relationships to access the network. This move could enable large numbers of drones to operate effectively without relying on GPS, a significant advantage in contested airspace.
The company is also looking to expand its reach into allied markets. SPARC AI will attend the MSPO defense industry exhibition in Poland, starting September 8, where it has scheduled meetings with several European drone original equipment manufacturers. This engagement is part of a broader strategy to integrate Overwatch into various military and commercial drone fleets.
