GenealogyBank Included in RetailHub Obituary Lookup Tool Ranking

GenealogyBank, an online service that searches historical newspaper obituaries and death records dating back to 1690, has been included in RetailHub’s ranking of obituary lookup tools, RetailHub said this week.

RetailHub is an online publication that produces comparison guides ranking companies and products across a range of consumer categories.

The ranking evaluated five obituary lookup tools on five factors: historical depth of records, total archive size, free access to search results, search filter precision and advertising experience, according to RetailHub.

According to company materials, GenealogyBank’s online archive includes more than 346 million obituaries and death records dating from 1690 to the present, drawn from more than 15,000 U.S. newspapers. The service allows visitors to search by name, date range and location, and states its records are updated daily.

“GenealogyBank is glad to see its obituary archive recognized as a resource for people researching family history,” said a GenealogyBank spokesperson. “The company remains focused on maintaining and expanding its newspaper collection for researchers and families.”
