CENTRESTAGE ELITES Showcases KIT WAN STUDIOS’ Sci-Fi Creations, Highlighting Hong Kong’s Fashion Hub Ambitions

HONG KONG – CENTRESTAGE, Asia’s premier annual fashion event, opened its doors on 2 September 2026 with a star-studded gala that fused sci-fi aesthetics with haute couture. Organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA), the four-day fair at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) is a flagship programme of the third edition of Hong Kong Fashion Fest.

The opening night’s CENTRESTAGE ELITES show placed the spotlight on KIT WAN STUDIOS, a multidisciplinary design and visual arts studio led by Hong Kong-born creative director and visual artist Kit Wan. The runway unveiled over 30 new looks that blended futuristic themes with the studio’s signature “stage armour” designs, which have previously graced international stages such as the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles and Eurovision in the United Kingdom. Wan’s collaborative roster includes prominent Hong Kong artists like Miriam Yeung, Hins Cheung, MC Cheung, and Panther Chan.

Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the HKSAR Government, attended as the Guest of Honour. The event drew a constellation of celebrities, artists, and fashion industry heavyweights, all gathered to celebrate Hong Kong’s creative energy. An exclusive exhibition zone showcased seven iconic stage costumes designed by the studio for artists like Hins Cheung and Miriam Yeung, underscoring the studio’s deep ties with Hong Kong’s music scene.

The evening continued with an After Party featuring live performances by renowned Hong Kong electronic musician hirsk and Belgian model-musician Kim Peers. The entire spectacle was livestreamed across multiple official platforms, allowing global audiences to witness the event.

This year’s CENTRESTAGE, held against the backdrop of Victoria Harbour, is more than a fashion showcase; it represents Hong Kong’s strategic push to solidify its status as Asia’s fashion design hub. The event is a key component of Hong Kong Fashion Fest, announced by the Chief Executive in the 2023 Policy Address and running from 1 to 14 September 2026. By consolidating fashion events and fostering cross-sectoral collaboration, the initiative aims to attract international players and promote local talent.

The fair is open free of charge to both industry professionals and the public, featuring over 40 events including more than 30 runway shows and parades. On 4 September, Kit Wan will personally engage in a dialogue with Dan Hastings, Editor of The Business of Fashion, to share insights on creative inspiration and expanding into overseas markets.
