Greenland Mines Closes Sarfartoq Acquisition, Advances Skaergaard Project

Greenland Mines (NASDAQ: GRML) has issued a shareholder letter from President Dr. Bo Moller Stensgaard outlining significant milestones, including the Sept. 1 closing of its Sarfartoq Neodymium-Praseodymium Rare Earths Project acquisition and ongoing development at its Skaergaard palladium-gold-platinum project. The announcements mark a pivotal step in the company’s strategy to build a multi-asset platform focused on critical minerals and precious metals.

The acquisition of the Sarfartoq project, located in southwest Greenland, is a cornerstone of Greenland Mines’ rare earth strategy. The company highlighted an independent Initial Assessment that projects a high-case pre-tax net present value (NPV) of approximately $2.05 billion with an internal rate of return (IRR) of 118.6%, including Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resources. The project holds an estimated 6.9 million tonnes of Indicated resources at 1.60% total rare earth oxides (TREO) and 5.3 million tonnes of Inferred resources at 0.96% TREO. These resources are essential for the production of neodymium and praseodymium, key inputs for permanent magnets used in electric vehicles and wind turbines.

Strategic shareholder Neo Performance Materials, a leader in rare earth processing, holds offtake rights for up to 60% of future Sarfartoq production. This partnership is expected to secure a downstream market for the project’s output, aligning with Greenland Mines’ broader vision of linking Greenland resources with allied jurisdictions.

At the Skaergaard project in southeast Greenland, the company’s July 2026 S-K 1300 Technical Report Summary demonstrated a 36% increase in Indicated palladium-equivalent (PdEq) grade and a 31% increase in contained Indicated PdEq ounces compared to the 2022 estimate. This upgrade underscores the project’s potential as a significant source of palladium, gold, and platinum. The 2026 field program is underway, encompassing drilling, bulk sampling, geotechnical studies, environmental baseline surveys, and metallurgical testing. Bulk material is being sent to GTK Mintec in Finland for processing flowsheet development.

Greenland Mines’ remaining 2026 milestones include advancing Sarfartoq toward infill drilling and a Pre-Feasibility Study, while moving Skaergaard toward an Initial Assessment that will evaluate a mining scenario. These efforts are part of the company’s North Atlantic Critical Metals Corridor strategy, which aims to create a supply chain for critical minerals that supports Western industrial infrastructure.

The company’s diversified portfolio also includes a biotech division focused on Klotho’s KLTO-202 for ALS, but the mining operations remain central to its growth narrative. With the Sarfartoq transaction closed and Skaergaard development progressing, Greenland Mines is positioning itself to meet the growing demand for rare earth elements and precious metals, which are vital to the global transition to clean energy and advanced technologies.
