Vertical Data Inc. (OTCQB: VDTA), a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company, has entered into a definitive purchase agreement to acquire an existing industrial data center site with 4.5 megawatts (MW) of power capacity in Sollefteå Municipality in Central Sweden. The agreement was made through the company’s majority-owned subsidiary, Vertical Data Nordic AB, according to a press release.
If the transaction proceeds, Vertical Data intends to continue pursuing an application for up to 100 MW of total power capacity to build out an AI data center facility. The company said the project is among several in an active conversion pipeline representing more than 250 MW of global data center opportunities. Closing is anticipated in the next several weeks and remains subject to financing, corporate approvals, applicable regulatory clearances, and other closing conditions.
The move underscores Vertical Data’s strategy to become a vertically integrated provider of AI infrastructure, offering GPU financing, AI hardware, sovereign cloud, and edge data center solutions. The company operates three platforms: VerticalData.io, which provides enterprise GPU provisioning and managed infrastructure; GPUfinancing.com, which arranges structured financing for GPU deployments; and Vertical Edge, which holds equity in the data centers the company sources, develops, leases, and manages. Together, these platforms aim to deliver hardware, financing, and facilities under one company.
For investors, the acquisition signals Vertical Data’s ambition to scale its data center footprint in Europe, a region where demand for AI compute capacity is growing rapidly. The 4.5 MW site in Sweden could serve as a beachhead for a much larger 100 MW facility, which would represent a significant increase in the company’s power capacity. The active conversion pipeline of over 250 MW suggests that Vertical Data is pursuing multiple opportunities globally, potentially positioning it as a notable player in the AI infrastructure space.
However, the deal is not yet complete and faces several hurdles, including securing financing and obtaining necessary regulatory approvals. The company’s ability to close the transaction and subsequently expand the site will be closely watched by investors and industry observers. If successful, the Swedish project could enhance Vertical Data’s ability to offer sovereign cloud and edge data center solutions, which are increasingly in demand as AI workloads proliferate.
Vertical Data is traded on the OTCQB under the ticker symbol VDTA. More information about the company can be found at https://verticaldata.io/investor-relations/. The full press release is available at https://ibn.fm/Yzr2r.
