The Exit Planning Institute (EPI), a leading authority on exit planning for advisors and business owners, has announced a strategic partnership with Million Dollar Author, a firm that helps professional services founders turn their expertise into best-selling books. The alliance adds Million Dollar Author to EPI’s network of Alliance Partners, trusted collaborators that support advisor development and member engagement through educational content, programming, and events.
Million Dollar Author has published more than 370 books that have generated new clients, speaking invitations, or referral networks for their authors. The partnership is designed to leverage that publishing expertise to help EPI members—many of whom have already written books on exit planning, business growth, entrepreneurship, and leadership—share their unique methodologies and perspectives with a broader audience.
“We are excited to welcome Million Dollar Author to EPI’s network of Alliance Partners,” said Josh Koza, director of strategic relationships at EPI. “Many EPI members have written books about exit planning, business growth, entrepreneurship, and leadership; each member of our community has a unique methodology and perspective to share.”
Steve Gordon, founder of Million Dollar Author, framed the collaboration as a way to improve exit outcomes for business owners. “Through this partnership with EPI, we want to help create more of the good kind of exit,” Gordon said. “Books can position Certified Exit Planning Advisors (CEPA®) so that they reach business owners before those owners are ready to exit, when the CEPA provides the most benefit. Every book we write is a force for good in the world. Our clients solve real problems for people.”
The alliance matters because it addresses a persistent challenge in exit planning: business owners often engage advisors too late in the process, limiting the value advisors can provide. By equipping CEPAs with authorship strategies, the partnership aims to help them establish authority and build relationships earlier, potentially leading to better-prepared owners and smoother transitions. EPI’s CEPA credential program is the most widely endorsed professional exit planning program in the world, providing advisors with the content, tools, and training needed to engage business owners and become their most valued advisors.
For advisors, the partnership offers a new avenue to differentiate themselves in a crowded market. A book can serve as a powerful marketing tool, opening doors to speaking engagements and referral networks that might otherwise be difficult to access. For business owners, the result could be earlier access to specialized guidance, which is often critical for maximizing value and achieving personal goals in an exit.
