MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) announced preparations to mobilize Savanna Drill Rig #629 and crew for Lawson 5, the largest step-out to date from its Lawson Complex Natural Hydrogen Discovery. The well will target an area approximately 27 to 31 km northeast of Lawson 1 through Lawson 4 and is designed to test the scale potential of the broader Genesis Trend both across a 30-km mobile belt and along the 475-km Salt Wall extending toward the North Dakota border.
The move marks a significant escalation in the company’s exploration efforts, as Lawson 5 will be the farthest well yet from the original discovery. MAX Power said Lawson 4 has been successfully cased and cemented after encountering the highest Natural Hydrogen readings to date at Lawson, along with a thick basal Cambrian reservoir featuring high permeability and porosity. Those results provide encouraging evidence that the hydrogen system may be more extensive than previously thought.
The company is also planning near-term completions programs at Lawson and Bracken, where independent evaluation identified multiple prospective Natural Hydrogen and helium zones. Data from the expanded drilling and completions programs will feed MAXX LEMI, the company’s AI-assisted proprietary platform, which is expected to help refine targeting and accelerate future exploration.
MAX Power is an innovative mineral and energy exploration company focused on the shift to decarbonization. The Company’s Lawson Discovery near Central Butte, Saskatchewan, represents Canada’s first-ever subsurface Natural Hydrogen system confirmed through deep drilling with data validated by three independent labs. MAX Power has built dominant district-scale land positions across Saskatchewan with approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits covering prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of Natural Hydrogen. MAX Power also holds a portfolio of properties in the United States and Canada focused on critical minerals. These properties are highlighted by a 2024 diamond drilling discovery at the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona, 100%-owned by MAX Power’s U.S. subsidiary.
The announcement matters because it could signal the emergence of a major new energy resource. Natural hydrogen, if found in commercial quantities, offers a zero-carbon fuel that could play a key role in global decarbonization efforts. The Genesis Trend’s potential scale—spanning tens of kilometers and potentially extending to the North Dakota border—suggests that MAX Power may be on the verge of defining a new hydrogen province. Success at Lawson 5 would not only validate the company’s exploration model but also attract further investment and attention to the region’s hydrogen potential.
