Greenland Energy Extends Jameson Land Exploration Well Deadlines to 2028

Greenland Energy Company (NASDAQ: GLND) has taken a significant step to advance its exploration ambitions in East Greenland, signing a Deed of Variation and Novation with 80 Mile plc (AIM: 80M) and its wholly owned subsidiary March GL Company. The agreement amends the existing Farm-Out Agreement for the Jameson Land Basin, extending the longstop dates for the first and second exploration wells to Dec. 31, 2028.

Under the terms of the deed, Greenland Energy (NASDAQ: GLND) has assumed March GL’s rights and obligations, giving it sole responsibility for securing and maintaining permits and approvals required for the Jameson Land drilling program. 80 Mile will remain responsible for other government consents under the Farm-Out Agreement. As consideration for entering into the deed and agreeing to the amendments, Greenland Energy will pay 80 Mile £500,000. The full details of the agreement can be found in the press release.

The extension provides Greenland Energy with additional time to prepare for exploration drilling in the Jameson Land Basin, an approximately 2 million acre onshore licensed area. The company is focused on responsibly exploring and seeking to develop Greenland’s hydrocarbon resources using modern exploration technologies. By taking over permit responsibilities, Greenland Energy streamlines the approval process and positions itself to move forward with its exploration program.

This development matters because it underscores Greenland Energy’s commitment to unlocking the frontier hydrocarbon potential of the Jameson Land Basin, a region that has seen limited exploration activity. The extension to 2028 allows the company to navigate the complex regulatory and logistical challenges of operating in Greenland, where permits and approvals can be time-consuming. It also provides a clearer path for the company to advance its exploration goals.
