hep global Advances Largest German Solar Project to Construction Phase

hep global, a specialist in solar project development, has completed the development phase for its largest solar project in Germany to date. The 35.7 MWp “Buckelacker” solar park in Eppingen, near the company’s headquarters in Guglingen, is now entering construction, the company announced on NEWMEDIAWIRE.

Spanning approximately 30 hectares, the solar park is expected to generate about 38 million kilowatt-hours of solar power annually. That output would theoretically supply the annual energy needs of roughly 10,800 households with renewable energy. The electricity will be fed into the regional power grid via a newly constructed substation at Hohenstein.

A key feature of the project is an integrated green energy storage system with a capacity of 20.3 MWh and an output of 10 MW. The storage system temporarily stores solar power and feeds it into the grid during periods of higher electricity prices, increasing the economic benefits of the generated electricity. This combination of solar generation and battery storage reflects hep global’s strategic focus on integrating battery energy storage systems (BESS) into its renewable energy projects.

“This project is something special for us. It combines the development of a local solar project with the experience we have gained in various markets around the world,” said Benjamin Brasch, Manager of Project Development for South-West Germany at hep global. “The fact that we have developed our largest German solar project to date in the immediate vicinity of our headquarters also underscores our long-term commitment to the region.”

The completion of project development marks an important milestone for hep global. Construction work, which is now beginning, will be coordinated by ZaberSolar GmbH. The company expects to complete construction in the first half of 2027.

hep global is an internationally active, owner-managed company based in Baden-Württemberg. For more than 15 years, it has developed and planned renewable energy projects, mainly in Europe, Japan and North America. The group employs around 120 people worldwide with subsidiaries in Germany, Italy, Poland, the USA, Canada and Japan. More information is available at www.hepsolar.com.

The “Buckelacker” project demonstrates how hep global is bringing internationally gained experience to its home region. As Germany continues to expand renewable energy capacity, projects of this scale—especially those paired with storage—can help stabilize the grid and improve the economics of solar power.
