Quantum BioPharma Licensee Unbuzzd Names Michael ‘Zappy’ Zapolin CEO to Drive Public Listing and U.S. Rollout

Quantum BioPharma Ltd. (NASDAQ: QNTM), a biopharmaceutical company focused on neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders, announced that its licensee, Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., has appointed Michael Zapolin as chief executive officer. Zapolin, known as “Zappy,” will lead the company’s efforts to secure financing, list on a stock exchange, and execute a nationwide commercial marketing and product rollout in the United States. The transition from former CEO Richard Buzbuzian, who is assisting with the shift to a publicly listed company, is scheduled to go effective in the next quarter.

Unbuzzd markets unbuzzd(TM), a beverage designed to accelerate alcohol metabolism, restore mental clarity, and reduce hangover symptoms. The product is backed by a peer-reviewed clinical study and is currently available through Amazon and the company’s website. Quantum BioPharma, which invented UNBUZZD(TM) and spun out its over-the-counter version to Unbuzzd Wellness Inc., retains a 19.84% ownership stake in the company as of March 31, 2026. The agreement also includes royalty payments of 7% of sales until payments to Quantum total $250 million, after which the royalty drops to 3% in perpetuity. Quantum retains 100% of the rights to develop similar products or alternative formulations specifically for pharmaceutical and medical uses.

The appointment of Zapolin comes as Unbuzzd prepares for a public listing, a move that could provide the company with greater access to capital and visibility. For Quantum BioPharma, a successful listing and nationwide rollout of unbuzzd could accelerate royalty payments, which are tied directly to sales. The news is significant for investors because it signals progress in monetizing Quantum’s intellectual property and expanding its reach in the consumer wellness market. Quantum’s core focus remains on developing treatments for challenging neurodegenerative and metabolic disorders, including alcohol misuse disorders, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Lucid Psycheceuticals Inc. Its lead compound, Lucid-MS, is a patented new chemical entity shown to prevent and reverse myelin degradation, the underlying mechanism of multiple sclerosis, in preclinical models.
