Students preparing for careers in health care can apply for a $1,000 scholarship sponsored by a Baltimore-based chiropractic and physical therapy practice. The Pain Relief and Wellness Scholarship is offered by Mid Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic, which has provided chiropractic care and physical therapy in Baltimore, MD since 2012. Applications are open through August 31, 2027, and the recipient will be announced in September 2027.
Founder Dr. Marc Gulitz said the scholarship reflects the practice’s daily work. “Every day, our doctors and staff see how much relieving pain can change a person’s physical and mental health,” he said. “This scholarship lets us invest in a student who shares that purpose, whether they plan to become a chiropractor, a physical therapist, a nurse, or another provider focused on helping others recover.”
Eligibility extends to students enrolled in accredited undergraduate, graduate, or professional programs in the United States, including community college students. High school seniors and GED holders who have been accepted to or are enrolled in an accredited program also qualify. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 and submit three materials by email: an essay of 1,000 words or fewer explaining what inspired them to help people with pain, what they have done toward that goal, and how their education will help them achieve it; an updated resume; and a current unofficial transcript.
The scholarship is not limited to one field of study, but each essay must demonstrate a clear commitment to pain relief and wellness. That broad scope matters because pain management draws on many disciplines—chiropractic, physical therapy, nursing, and other professions—and the award is designed to support students who intend to enter any of them.
Mid Atlantic Spinal Rehab & Chiropractic was founded in Baltimore in 2012 and now has 14 chiropractors serving patients across Baltimore City and five surrounding Maryland counties. The practice’s services include chiropractic care, physical therapy, corrective exercises, spinal and postural screenings, and lifestyle advice.
Dr. Gulitz holds a B.S. in molecular biology from Lehigh University and a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College, and he serves on the board of the Maryland Chiropractic Association. The scholarship, announced October 1, 2026, gives prospective providers a financial boost as they train for roles that address pain and improve health.
