Stonegate Capital Partners has updated its coverage on Cassiar Gold Corp. (TSXV: GLDC), noting the company’s progress in advancing its Taurus project toward a first formal economic evaluation while maintaining a district-scale exploration program across the broader Cassiar Gold Property. The update, released on October 1, 2026, outlines key developments that Stonegate believes improve visibility into the path toward project definition and preserve the core investment thesis around a 2.34 million ounce near-surface Taurus resource and broader exploration upside.
Cassiar has engaged Ausenco to complete a preliminary economic assessment (PEA) for Taurus, which Stonegate identifies as the company’s most important near-term milestone. The PEA is expected in the second half of 2026 and will build on the current resource estimate of 410,000 ounces indicated and 1.93 million ounces inferred. According to Stonegate, the study should provide the first meaningful framework for evaluating potential processing methods, mine scale, capital requirements, operating costs, and project economics. For investors, the PEA represents a critical step in transitioning Taurus from an exploration asset to a potentially developable project, offering greater clarity on the project’s viability.
In addition to the PEA, Cassiar has launched a fully funded 10,000-meter 2026 drill program, with approximately 7,400 meters across 31 holes completed at Cassiar North as of September 17. The company has also extended its exploration permit through March 2031 and entered into an Exploration Agreement with the Dease River First Nation. These developments, according to Stonegate, improve the project’s framework and support the current exploration and PEA program. The agreement with the Dease River First Nation is particularly significant as it demonstrates constructive engagement with Indigenous communities, a factor increasingly important for resource projects in Canada.
The current mineral resource estimate excludes the 7,308 meters drilled during 2025 and the ongoing 2026 campaign, suggesting that pending assays and future resource updates remain important catalysts. Stonegate notes that the strategy balances technical de-risking at Taurus with continued resource growth and higher-grade opportunities across Cassiar South and regional targets. This dual focus allows the company to advance its flagship project while still pursuing exploration upside that could enhance the overall resource base.
Financially, Cassiar’s balance sheet and broader project framework have improved through warrant exercises, a C$5.53 million May financing, the exploration-permit extension, and the Dease River First Nation agreement. These developments support the current exploration and PEA program, although Stonegate cautions that future development capital requirements remain an important longer-term consideration. For a junior mining company, maintaining a strong balance sheet while advancing a project through economic studies is crucial, and Cassiar’s recent financings appear to have provided the necessary funding.
