Sherwood Auto Repair is celebrating 40 years of serving the community with a 40th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, October 17, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its shop located at 9965 SW Tualatin-Sherwood Road in Tualatin. The event, open to customers, friends, neighbors and community members, will feature catering from Koi Fusion and a bounce house for children, making it an afternoon for the whole family.
The milestone marks four decades of continuous operation for a business that began as a small, family-owned repair shop in Sherwood in 1986. Founded by Felix LaPlante in Old Town Sherwood, the shop eventually made its home in Tualatin but has remained in the LaPlante family throughout its history. Today, the business is owned by Felix’s son, Scott LaPlante, who has continued the family tradition into its second generation. That tradition now extends to a third generation, with Scott’s son, Alden LaPlante, working as part of the Sherwood Auto Repair team.
“Forty years is an incredible milestone for our family and our team,” said Scott LaPlante, owner of Sherwood Auto Repair. “We wouldn’t be here without the generations of customers who have trusted us with their vehicles, the people who have worked alongside us, and the community that has supported this business over the years. This celebration is really about saying thank you.”
Since its founding, Sherwood Auto Repair has witnessed tremendous changes in both the automotive industry and the community it serves. Through those changes, the business has remained locally owned and family operated, combining modern automotive technology and expertise with the personal relationships and commitment to service that have been part of the shop since Felix first opened its doors. The shop provides comprehensive automotive service backed today by a 5-Year/75,000-Mile warranty while maintaining the family and community relationships on which the business was built.
The anniversary celebration underscores the importance of small, family-run businesses that endure across generations. In an era when many independent repair shops have been absorbed by larger chains or closed entirely, Sherwood Auto Repair’s 40-year run highlights the value of trusted service, great people, and lasting relationships with customers and the community. The event not only commemorates the past but also signals the business’s ongoing commitment to serving local drivers for years to come.
For those planning to attend, the celebration offers a chance to connect with the LaPlante family and the team that has kept the shop running for four decades. The event is free and open to the public, with no RSVP required. More information about the shop and its services is available through its Auto Repair offerings.
