Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) reported net income of $0.2 million for its fiscal third quarter ended Aug. 31, 2026, reversing a net loss of $1.7 million in the same period a year earlier. The improvement was primarily driven by a mark-to-market gain on a derivative liability, according to the company’s quarterly results, which were disseminated on behalf of Trilogy Metals Inc. The company ended the quarter with $31.2 million in cash and $30.3 million in adjusted working capital.
The results matter because they come as Trilogy advances its Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects (UKMP) in northwestern Alaska, where federal and state permitting is targeting a Record of Decision for the Arctic Project in September 2028. The company also noted the subsequent closing of a $35.6 million strategic equity investment by the U.S. Department of War. That investment, combined with the permitting schedule, signals growing institutional and governmental support for a project that could help position the United States as a larger player in domestic copper production.
Trilogy holds a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals LLC, which owns 100 percent of the UKMP. South32, a globally diversified mining and metals company, exercised its option in December 2019 to form a 50/50 joint venture with Trilogy. The UKMP sits within the Ambler Mining District, described as one of the richest and most prospective known copper-dominant districts in the world. It hosts polymetallic volcanogenic massive sulfide deposits containing copper, zinc, lead, gold and silver, as well as carbonate replacement deposits with high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization.
Exploration has focused on two deposits: the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit, both within a land package spanning approximately 190,929 hectares. Ambler Metals has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., an Alaska Native Corporation, that provides a framework for exploration and potential development in cooperation with local communities. Trilogy’s stated vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer while protecting and respecting subsistence livelihoods.
