Eco Expo Asia 2026 Opens with Record International Participation and Rising ESG Confidence

Eco Expo Asia 2026, jointly organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, will be held from 26 to 29 October at AsiaWorld-Expo. The 21st edition, under the theme “Connecting the World for a Sustainable Future,” brings together over 340 exhibitors from 16 countries and regions, including first-time participants from Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam. The expo is co-organised by the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government.

HKTDC Associate Executive Director Silas Chu noted that green transformation has shifted “from policy aspiration to market rule.” He added that the expo will help enterprises capitalise on new prospects emerging from the transition, as global demand for ESG and green solutions continues to grow. Around 200 key officials and representatives from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Belt and Road countries, and ASEAN will attend and tour the expo, further promoting cross-regional cooperation.

The HKTDC also released the “HKTDC ESG Index 2026,” which rose to 67.3 from 64.2 last year, well above the neutral threshold of 50. The survey found that 93% of respondents have integrated ESG into their business decision-making, while the share of businesses sourcing or selling ESG-related products and services increased from 29% in 2025 to 46% in 2026. Silas said the rise reflects “the continued strengthening of global businesses’ confidence in Hong Kong’s role as an ESG business hub.”

This year’s expo expands its pavilion line-up to 18, with the debut of an ASEAN Pavilion featuring 13 green technology companies from eight member countries, and a first-ever Qinghai Pavilion from the Chinese Mainland. Other participants include the Korea Institute of Fusion Energy, the US State of Illinois, and regular pavilions from Canada, Italy, and the Netherlands. Hong Kong’s home-grown innovation is represented by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, the Hong Kong Pavilion, the HKSAR Government booth, and the Environmental Campaign Committee Pavilion.

Four thematic areas anchor the expo: Green Energy in Motion, Frontier Green Tech, Building for a Greener City, and From Waste to Worth. Highlights include EcoCeres Ltd.’s sustainable aviation fuel, Stellerus Technology Limited’s Multi-Spectral Imaging Carbon Observatory (MUSICO) already deployed on China’s Tiangong space station, Green Vigor Limited’s modular hydropower system, and Green AI Technology Limited’s new unmanned recycling station, REV. Over 30 forums and seminars will feature more than 80 government officials, industry leaders, and academics, including Avinash Persaud, Special Advisor on Climate Change to the President of the Inter-American Development Bank.

The final day, 29 October, will be Public Day with free admission, offering seminars and workshops on climate, food waste upcycling, and green living. Free shuttle bus services will connect the fair venues, major hotels, and transport interchanges. For details, visit https://www.hktdc.com/event/ecoexpoasia/tc/travel-to-fairground-awe.
