Chinese author Xuemo introduced the English edition of his novel, The Undying Diamond Heart, and debuted the trailer for In Conversation with Xuemo: A Personal Documentary at the 2026 Frankfurt Book Fair. The dual release highlights a growing international focus on Xuemo’s literary and cultural contributions.
Published by Ruxue International Media, the English edition of The Undying Diamond Heart is translated by acclaimed American sinologist Howard Goldblatt and Sylvia Li-Chunlin. Xuemo asserts the novel’s transformative potential: “Other novels by Xuemo may influence you and change you, but The Undying Diamond Heart can help you become who you are meant to be.”
A reviewer for the Booklife Prize commended the book’s originality and its fusion of Eastern mysticism with deep inner conflict, noting such an approach is rare among comparable works. The review describes an immersive narrative that blurs history and divine revelation, incorporating curses, pilgrimage, karmic trials, and dreamlike logic. It characterizes the novel as a work of spiritual power and magical realism, moving between the physical world and transcendent realms with bold symbolism to depict the protagonist’s inner journey.
Xuemo’s works have been translated into 31 languages and published internationally. His presence at the Frankfurt Book Fair spans eight consecutive years. According to event organizers, he is the only Chinese author with both an independent exhibition booth and an invitation to the fair’s opening ceremony. During the 2022 fair, Xuemo ranked first in an international media-attention ranking covering media outside Germany, surpassing Spain, the fair’s Guest of Honour that year. In 2025, the inaugural “Xuemo World Literature Forum” was successfully held at the fair, creating another platform for international literary exchange.
The documentary traces Xuemo’s life, literary journey, and cultural exploration, drawing on the vast desert landscapes and rich cultural heritage of northwestern China. It explores how his writing engages with nature, life, human nature, and contemporary society, while examining broader questions at the intersection of literature, technology, civilization, and humanity’s future.
This year’s presentation represents a broader approach to international literary engagement—one that extends beyond individual books to encompass an author’s life experience, intellectual and spiritual journey, and wider literary vision. For international readers, the English edition offers direct access to Xuemo’s work; the novel is available for purchase via https://www.amazon.com/Eternal-Love-Spiritual-Journey-Redemption-ebook/dp/B0FRS82P4R. The documentary trailer provides a visual introduction to the author’s world, potentially expanding his audience beyond literature to film and cultural studies.
