Ward Law, a personal injury firm headquartered in Miami Lakes, has shared its vision for the future of legal representation in South Florida and beyond. The firm says its plan centers on the people it was built for: injured families who do not know where to turn, especially those more comfortable in Spanish. Its stated goal is “to become the most impactful personal injury law firm in America, serving vulnerable people and their families.”
For Jany Martinez-Ward, the firm’s founding and managing partner, that goal is personal. Martinez-Ward is a Cuban immigrant who saw early how difficult the U.S. legal system can be for people who do not speak the language or understand how it works. She started Ward Law with a foldout table and a laptop. Today the firm represents injured people in Miami, Orlando and New York City, in English and Spanish, from its corporate office at 7900 NW 154th St. in Miami Lakes.
“Wherever Spanish-speakers need a lawyer … we will be there,” Martinez-Ward said. The firm’s mission is to fight for injured people regardless of language, skin color or heritage. Its core values are service to clients, to the team and to the community, along with faith, accountability, leadership and growth.
For Ward Law, the future of representation comes down to several commitments. The firm says every client can work in English or Spanish from the first call, so they do not need a relative to translate or guess at forms. It also emphasizes knowing how insurance companies think: Gregory C. Ward, the firm’s founder and managing partner, spent part of his career representing insurance companies and now uses that knowledge to protect injured people. “It’s not just about winning cases, it’s about standing up for people when it matters most,” Ward said.
The firm also stresses staying with clients from start to finish. Martinez-Ward leads the pre-litigation department, which handles paperwork, counseling and settlement negotiations with insurers that most injured people have never dealt with. Ward Law has grown from South Florida to Orlando and New York City and continues to look at where Spanish-speaking accident victims are underserved.
Martinez-Ward’s community work reflects that same focus. She serves on the board of the I Have a Dream Foundation, runs an annual back-to-school drive for children in need and sponsors holiday meals for South Florida families. She also supports an orphanage and school in Nicaragua. She is a regular guest commentator on Spanish-language television, including Telemundo, Univision and Mega TV, where she explains legal rights to Spanish-speaking viewers.
Ward focuses on representing Hispanic clients hurt in car crashes caused by someone else’s negligence. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and Spanish literature, magna cum laude, from the University of Florida and a law degree from Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad Law Center. She is admitted to practice in Florida, New York, New Jersey, Texas and Washington, D.C. Her recognitions include Best Lawyers’ Lawyer of the Year (2022), Super Lawyers Rising Stars (2023) and the South Florida Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 (2023). She also contributed the chapter on automobile cases to the 10th edition of “Florida Civil Practice Before Trial.”
Ward Law represents people hurt in car, truck, motorcycle and pedestrian crashes, in English and Spanish. Consultations are free, and the firm works on contingency, so clients pay no fee unless it wins. Spanish-speaking clients can find more information at 855dolor55.com/es.
