Kristin Milito, the newborn and maternity photographer who founded Kristin Milito Photography 13 years ago, will host a second round of her live online business training for photographers from October 20 to 22, 2026. The three-day program, From Overlooked to Booked, follows a first run held September 22 to 24. The sessions mark a wider move by Milito from running a portrait studio into teaching other photographers the business side of the industry.
Milito picked up a camera after having her own children, wanting to record the fleeting early stages of their lives. Her studio in Glenview, just outside Chicago, now works with a team of associate photographers, and she describes it as a half-million-dollar newborn and maternity business. She still meets every client personally for their ordering appointment.
According to Milito, photographers often respond to slow inquiries by shooting more, posting more and lowering their prices, with little change in results. In her view, the underlying causes are usually an unclear niche, an inconsistent portfolio and a social media profile that does not turn visits into inquiries. The October program is built around those three areas.
“I see so many talented photographers doing everything they’ve been told to do and still not succeeding,” says Kristin Milito, owner of Kristin Milito Photography. “With live coaching instead of just being told what to do, they can finally start getting booked.”
Each session runs live at 12pm CT inside a private Facebook group and lasts about an hour, with one topic per day. Milito says the material reflects the methods she uses in her own studio each week. Day one covers niche selection and why generalist photographers can find it harder to stand out. Day two covers portfolio consistency and how individual images can discourage the clients a photographer wants to attract. Day three covers social media profiles, including bios, calls to action and how profile visits turn into inquiries.
Milito is known for safety-first newborn and maternity portraiture. She is a featured member of the National Association of Portrait and Child Photographers, holds mastery certificates in baby and family photography, and was named one of the best Chicago newborn photographers by Expertise each year from 2021 through 2024. Her competition work has earned multiple honors in the AFNS Award, an international newborn and maternity photography competition. Her studio work focuses on newborn, maternity and family portraits for clients across the Chicago area.
The October sessions are free to attend. Photographers can register through the program page, and recordings are emailed to registrants who are unable to join live. In an industry where many photographers struggle to turn their passion into a sustainable business, Milito’s program offers a practical, experience-based approach to getting booked.
