CFTC Approves tZERO DCO Registration, Opening New Derivatives Infrastructure Vertical

tZERO Group, Inc. announced today that the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has approved the registration of its wholly owned subsidiary, tZERO DCO, LLC, as a derivatives clearing organization (DCO). The approval, reported by NEWMEDIAWIRE, marks a significant expansion of tZERO’s infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) business into derivatives, complementing its existing securities and tokenized asset capabilities.

The DCO registration allows tZERO to operate a regulated clearinghouse for derivatives products, including event contracts and, subject to regulatory approvals, tokenized and conventional derivatives, perpetual futures, and other crypto products. A derivatives contract market (DCM) registration is expected to follow shortly, which would enable tZERO to also operate a regulated exchange for these products. Together, the DCO and forthcoming DCM will provide full-stack turnkey capabilities and horizontal interoperability across securities and derivatives workflows.

For institutional clients, this creates a path to develop derivative offerings using tZERO’s trading and clearing infrastructure, subject to product approvals, regulatory requirements, and operational readiness. The move advances tZERO’s multi-asset model, designed to help institutions offer customers access to a range of financial products through modular integrations and white label solutions. “This is a major expansion of what tZERO can build with institutions,” said Alan Konevsky, Chief Executive Officer of tZERO. “We have spent years assembling regulated infrastructure for tokenized securities and other financial assets. With a clearinghouse registration, and forthcoming exchange registration for derivatives, we can address an additional market and support a much broader set of client ambitions.”

The combination distinguishes tZERO within the tokenization market. While many providers focus on issuing or servicing tokenized assets, tZERO’s regulated capabilities span multiple stages of the market lifecycle. The DCO, together with the forthcoming DCM, extends that infrastructure from securities into derivatives, positioning tZERO to support institutions developing offerings across traditional and tokenized securities, derivatives, and other eligible products.

“This is a pinnacle moment in our licensing journey,” said Vanessa Savino, Chief Legal and Administrative Officer of tZERO. “We’ll grow this new capability the same way we have in securities: iteratively, responsibly and in step with our clients’ needs.” Al Swimmer, Chief Strategic Relationships Officer, noted that the registrations allow tZERO to work with partners earlier in the process of developing derivatives offerings. tZERO announced its applications for both registrations in September 2025. The new entities will enable tZERO to support institutional clients that wish to develop derivatives products for trading through its newly approved clearinghouse and pending exchange. The approval matters because it signals a further convergence of traditional derivatives markets and digital assets, giving institutions a regulated pathway to offer both conventional and tokenized derivatives. It also intensifies competition among infrastructure providers aiming to serve institutions seeking multi-asset capabilities under one roof.
