Golden Cariboo Buys Hixon Camp to Enable Year-Round Exploration at Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine

Golden Cariboo Resources Ltd. has completed the purchase of a 5.36-acre freehold property in Hixon, British Columbia, for $300,000 CAD, giving the company title to a camp that will support continuous exploration and development at its nearby Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine Property, according to a company announcement reported by NEWMEDIAWIRE. The acquisition, first outlined in a May 19, 2026 news release, comprises two adjacent lots on Highway 97 and represents what the company describes as a key investment in its operational readiness and long-term capacity.

The significance of the purchase lies in its timing and location. The Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine Property is about 4 kilometers northeast of Hixon in central British Columbia and is road accessible, making a permanent camp a practical base for field personnel and contractors. By establishing accommodation and support infrastructure at the site, Golden Cariboo aims to operate 12 months a year, a capability that could reduce seasonal downtime and allow drilling and trenching programs to continue through winter months.

Company President and CEO J. Frank Callaghan framed the move as a differentiator. “Being able to work 12 months a year sets Golden Cariboo apart from many peer group companies,” he stated. “This acquisition will support those efforts and the Company’s focus on building upon and expanding its inaugural NI 43-101 Mineral Resource Estimate announced on September 30, 2026.” The reference to the resource estimate underscores that the camp is intended to facilitate follow-up work on a defined mineral resource, rather than early-stage exploration alone.

Golden Cariboo has already mobilized its Atco 5 unit skid-mounted trailers to the camp to provide near-term accommodation and operational support infrastructure. Water studies, permitting and engineered plans are in progress to assist with installing camp infrastructure. Aqua Tech Ltd from Kelowna and Western Water Associates Ltd out of Prince George have been onsite to complete water testing and water quality analysis, including review by Northern Health, with results pending. Either the existing water licence at the camp will be transferred to the Company or a new licence may need to be applied for.

In addition, Golden Cariboo has engaged Prince George-based L&M Engineering Ltd. to complete engineering plans and permitting for either an upgraded or new septic system to support the camp. The company said this work ensures the site will be fully functional and compliant with applicable regulations. Together, the water and septic work indicate that the camp is moving from acquisition to operational readiness, though the company did not provide a timeline for completion.

The property sits within a historically productive gold district. Golden Cariboo is proceeding with targeted drilling and trenching programs on the Quesnelle Gold Quartz Mine property, which is bordered by Osisko Gold Group Inc. and partly intertwined with them at the north end of the Cariboo Gold Project. The property lies along a favourable corridor adjacent to the Spanish and Eureka thrust faults over a 96,183-hectare area. The Quesnelle Quartz gold-silver deposit was discovered in 1865 and developed over a footprint of about 150 meters by 150 meters at the Main zone straddling Hixon Creek.

For investors, the camp purchase is a tangible step that may support more consistent news flow from the exploration program. The company’s ability to secure water and septic approvals will determine how quickly the camp becomes fully functional.
