Intershop Reports Positive EBIT and 29% Cloud Order Growth in First Nine Months of 2026

Intershop Communications AG, a global provider of agentic B2B commerce solutions, reported revenues of EUR 23.4 million for the first nine months of 2026, down from EUR 25.2 million in the prior-year period. Despite the decline, the company swung to a positive EBIT of EUR 0.2 million from a loss of EUR 1.4 million a year earlier, according to figures published on NEWMEDIAWIRE. The result marks the third consecutive quarter of positive operating profit, with third-quarter EBIT at EUR 45 thousand.

The improvement was driven by a 13% reduction in total expenses to EUR 23.2 million, reflecting cost-cutting measures initiated in the previous year. Operating expenses and income fell 14% to EUR 11.1 million, with declines across research and development, sales and marketing, and general administration. EBITDA more than doubled to EUR 2.7 million from EUR 1.1 million.

Cloud business remained the bright spot. Cloud revenues rose 2% to EUR 15.7 million and now account for 67% of total revenues, up six percentage points. Incoming cloud orders jumped 29% to EUR 14.2 million, with new customers contributing EUR 3.7 million and existing customers EUR 10.5 million. Cloud ARR stood at EUR 20.3 million as of 30 September 2026, up 3% year-over-year, while new ARR grew 27% to EUR 2.1 million. Net new ARR showed a clear upward trend, rising to EUR 0.5 million in the third quarter from EUR 0.2 million in the second.

As expected, license and maintenance revenues declined 42% to EUR 2.9 million due to the cloud strategy, while service revenues were nearly flat at EUR 4.9 million. Gross margin improved by two percentage points to 48%.

“Nine months into the year, the positive trend seen in the first two quarters continues: our consistent cost discipline is paying off, we have once again generated positive EBIT, and we are on track to meet our full-year targets,” said CEO Markus Dränert. He noted that customers’ willingness to invest remains subdued but that the recovery that began at the end of 2025 remains stable. Dränert also highlighted that Intershop won top medals in 11 of 12 categories in the Paradigm B2B Combine 2026, confirming its development into an agentic commerce platform.

Cash flow from operating activities improved significantly to EUR 3.6 million from EUR 1.6 million, and cash and cash equivalents rose to EUR 9.6 million. The equity ratio edged up to 37%.

Intershop confirmed its forecast for the full year 2026, expecting incoming cloud orders and net new ARR at the previous year’s level, a slightly smaller revenue decline than in 2025, and a balanced operating result. The quarterly statement is available at https://www.intershop.com/financial-reports.

The results matter because they show that Intershop’s shift to a cloud-based, agentic commerce model is gaining traction even as legacy revenue declines. Positive EBIT and strong cloud order growth suggest the company is stabilizing its financial position, which could reassure investors and customers about its long-term viability in a competitive B2B commerce market.
