Outamation Integrates Equifax Soft-Pull Credit Data to Help Servicers Retain Performing Loans

Outamation, an AI-native mortgage operations technology company, has integrated Equifax® consumer credit data into its OutamateMods platform, aiming to help loan servicers identify performing borrowers who are good candidates for loan modifications. The integration, announced in a press release, is live today for OutamateMods clients.

The move comes as refinance activity remains low in the current rate environment, but Outamation expects that to change once rates fall. By preparing now, servicers can react on day one of a refinance wave, giving qualified consumers new opportunities to improve their cash flow while helping servicers maintain their portfolios.

With the integration, servicers gain Equifax soft-pull credit data inside OutamateMods and across the Outamation platform. The system provides a portfolio retention review to identify performing borrowers who are candidates for a modification, end-to-end execution from eligibility through documents and closing, and support for retention and recapture programs, including performing loan modifications for portfolio loans.

“The time to build a retention program is before the next refinance wave, not during it,” said Ron Morton, Chief Revenue Officer at Outamation. “Keeping a borrower costs far less than winning one back, so having the tools in place now to prepare is a critical step to create compelling offers for consumers quickly.”

Carrie Doyle, VP of Business Development, Digital Alliances for Mortgage & Housing at Equifax, added: “Mortgage servicers need timely insights to help match borrowers with the right loan. Bringing Equifax soft-pull credit data into OutamateMods puts that insight directly inside the retention workflow. It helps servicers act sooner and serve borrowers better.”

The integration matters because it addresses a timing gap in mortgage servicing. When rates drop, borrowers may rush to refinance, potentially leaving servicers with runoff. By embedding credit data and modification capabilities into the retention workflow, Outamation aims to let servicers proactively offer modifications to performing borrowers before they seek refinancing elsewhere. That could help servicers preserve relationships and reduce the cost of acquiring new customers, while borrowers gain options to improve their financial situation.

The announcement also reflects a broader trend of integrating third-party data directly into operational platforms to speed decision-making. For servicers, the ability to assess creditworthiness with soft pulls—which typically do not affect consumer credit scores—may streamline pre-qualification and reduce friction in the modification process. Outamation’s platform now covers the entire retention cycle, from identifying candidates to closing modifications, which could shorten response times and improve borrower outcomes.

As the mortgage industry braces for a potential refinance wave, tools that enable early action may become a competitive advantage. Outamation’s integration with Equifax is available now for OutamateMods clients. More information is available at outamation.com.
