PXG has introduced the next generation of its Secret Weapon Mini Driver, a compact 300cc club designed to offer driver-like distance with the control of a fairway wood. The new model incorporates a face more than 4 percent thinner than its predecessor, along with a refined internal sole structure and optimized weighting, according to the company.
The thinner face is intended to increase deflection at impact, allowing for more efficient energy transfer and faster ball speeds across a larger area of the clubface. PXG engineers used advanced finite element analysis to redesign the internal sole structure, reinforcing areas that need support while redistributing impact stress throughout the clubhead. Mass saved from the thinner face was moved to the perimeter to increase moment of inertia, which helps the clubhead resist twisting on off-center hits and preserves distance and directional control.
A lightweight carbon fiber crown further allows additional weight to be positioned lower and deeper in the clubhead. “The thinner face and refined sole structure work together,” said Caleb Kroloff, PXG Director of Woods Research & Development. “We reinforced the areas that needed support and moved saved weight to the perimeter. That helps us deliver more speed with more consistent performance when golfers miss the center of the face.”
The club also features PXG’s Precision Weighting Technology, with four adjustable weight locations in the sole at the heel, toe, front, and back. It comes initially equipped with two 7.5-gram weights and two 2.5-gram weights, enabling golfers to fine-tune shot shape, spin, and swing weight. An adjustable hosel provides additional control over launch and trajectory.
PGA TOUR professional Jake Knapp, who had the original Secret Weapon in his bag, said the new version exceeded his expectations. “I absolutely love it,” Knapp said. “It has everything I liked about the original, with more speed and forgiveness. Putting it in the bag was an easy decision.”
The PXG Secret Weapon Mini Driver is offered in right- and left-handed configurations with 13 degrees of loft and a standard length of 43.25 inches. It is available for purchase online or through a fitting at www.PXG.com.
The announcement, reported via NEWMEDIAWIRE, signals PXG’s continued push into the mini driver category, which has gained traction among golfers looking for an alternative to the traditional driver. By combining a thinner face with perimeter weighting and adjustable sole weights, PXG aims to address a common trade-off: the need for speed off the tee without sacrificing accuracy. For golfers who struggle with consistency from the driver, the Secret Weapon’s compact head and fairway-wood length may offer a more controllable option, while the adjustable weighting allows further customization. The update also reflects broader trends in golf equipment, where manufacturers increasingly rely on finite element analysis and multi-material construction to squeeze performance from smaller clubheads. With Knapp’s endorsement and the club’s adjustable features, PXG is positioning the new Secret Weapon as a serious option for players seeking distance and forgiveness in a more compact package.
