Oncotelic’s AI Platform Identifies Four-Gene Signature in Liver Cancer, Published in Biomedicines

Oncotelic Therapeutics, Inc. (OTCQB: OTLC) has published a peer-reviewed study in the journal Biomedicines demonstrating that its AI-powered PDAOAI platform helped identify a four-gene prognostic signature in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common form of liver cancer. The study, published Oct. 23, 2026, used Oncotelic’s patented Partitioned Literature Aggregation (PLA) algorithm running on PDAOAI, combined with gene-expression and survival analyses, to pinpoint four genes: FKBP1A, EIF4E, RRAGC and PPARGC1A. The signature’s association with patient survival was independently validated in a Japanese HCC cohort of 203 patients.

The findings matter because they support patient stratification for clinical trials of Sapu003, an intravenous formulation of everolimus that Oncotelic is developing. By identifying patients most likely to benefit based on their genetic profile, the company aims to improve the odds of success in a cancer where treatment options remain limited and prognosis is often poor. The research also highlights the growing role of artificial intelligence in drug discovery, particularly for generating testable biological hypotheses from vast amounts of scientific literature and genomic data.

Oncotelic Chief Business Officer Saran Saund presented the research approach during an Oct. 22 keynote at the 22nd Drug Discovery Strategic Summit in California. The company emphasized the potential of partitioned AI investigations to accelerate the discovery of new cancer targets and biomarkers. Oncotelic plans to expand PDAOAI toward a target scale of approximately 100 billion biological vectors for genetic and protein research.

Through its BIO REBOOT initiative, the company invites researchers and development teams to submit projects for potential funding and support in validation, formulation, regulatory planning and clinical development, subject to scientific review and available resources. The initiative could help broaden the pipeline of AI-driven oncology assets beyond Oncotelic’s internal programs.

Oncotelic develops oncology and immunotherapy products, focusing on cancers with substantial unmet needs and rare pediatric indications. The company also develops the PDAOAI platform to support its drug discovery and development work. For investors, the peer-reviewed validation of the four-gene signature provides independent scientific backing for the company’s AI approach and its lead candidate, Sapu003, potentially strengthening its position in the competitive liver cancer space.
