MAX Power Mining Corp. (CSE: MAXX; OTC: MAXXF; FRANKFURT: 89N) has confirmed the presence of a natural hydrogen system at its Lawson 5 well, approximately 30 kilometers from its original Lawson Natural Hydrogen Discovery near Central Butte, Saskatchewan. The announcement, disseminated on behalf of MAX Power Mining, marks a significant step in the company’s exploration of naturally occurring hydrogen as a potential clean energy resource.
The Lawson 5 well reached a depth of 2,175 meters and recovered 62 meters of core. Geological observations identified pronounced iron oxidation, alteration and serpentinization associated with elevated natural hydrogen levels along the western edge of the Prairie Evaporite. These findings indicate an active, generative hydrogen system, according to the company.
Drilling is now underway at Lawson 6, located approximately eight kilometers southeast of Lawson 5. With this confirmation, MAX Power has identified active natural hydrogen systems in three areas spanning up to 365 kilometers across Saskatchewan: the Lawson Complex, Lawson 5 and Bracken. This broad distribution suggests the potential for a district-scale hydrogen play, which could be significant for Canada’s emerging natural hydrogen sector.
MAX Power has begun a completions program at Bracken, with testing at the Lawson Complex scheduled to follow. The program will evaluate hydrogen concentrations, flow rates, reservoir pressures and other characteristics needed to assess commercial viability. Success in these tests would move the company closer to demonstrating whether natural hydrogen can be produced at commercial scale, a key question for the nascent industry.
Financially, MAX Power reported raising approximately $1.66 million through warrant and stock option exercises between Sept. 1 and Oct. 15, 2026. The company also announced its participation in two Toronto investor conferences on Oct. 28 and disclosed agreements covering advisory services and expanded investor marketing activities. These moves suggest the company is shoring up its balance sheet and visibility as it advances its exploration programs.
MAX Power holds approximately 1.3 million acres (521,000 hectares) of permits across Saskatchewan covering prime exploration ground prospective for large-volume accumulations of natural hydrogen. The company also holds critical minerals properties in the United States and Canada, including the Willcox Playa Lithium Project in southeast Arizona. The confirmation of a third hydrogen system is important because it expands the known footprint of natural hydrogen in Saskatchewan and supports the case for further exploration investment. As the world seeks decarbonized energy sources, natural hydrogen could offer a low-carbon alternative if commercial extraction proves feasible. MAX Power’s completions and testing programs will be closely watched by investors and industry observers alike.
