Branicks Group CEO Sonja Warntges to Step Down After Nine Years at Helm

Sonja Warntges, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of Branicks Group AG, will step down from her role and leave the Executive Board by mutual agreement at the end of October 2026, the Frankfurt-based real estate specialist announced on NEWMEDIAWIRE. Warntges has been a member of the Executive Board since May 2013, initially as Chief Financial Officer, and has served as Chairwoman since October 2017.

Starting in November 2026, the Executive Board will consist of Josef Schultheis, who, in addition to his role as Chief Restructuring Officer, will assume Warntges’s previous responsibilities, and Johannes von Mutius as Chief Investment Officer. The leadership change comes after the company reached what Warntges described as an important milestone with an agreed-upon restructuring plan.

“The past few years have been marked by successes, but also – most recently – by significant challenges,” Warntges said. “With the agreed-upon restructuring plan, we have reached an important milestone. That is why now is the right time to hand over responsibility. I would like to thank the Supervisory Board, my colleagues on the Executive Board, and all employees for their cooperation, and I wish Branicks continued success.”

The Supervisory Board Chairman thanked Warntges for her dedication during various phases of the company’s development and wished her all the best in her future endeavors, both personally and professionally.

The transition matters for investors and stakeholders because it consolidates restructuring oversight and investment strategy under a two-person board at a pivotal moment for the company. Branicks Group AG, formerly DIC Asset AG, is a leading German listed specialist for office and logistics real estate with more than 25 years of experience and a broad investor network. As of June 30, 2026, it managed properties with a market value of EUR 10.1 billion in its Commercial Portfolio and Institutional Business segments. The Commercial Portfolio generates cash flows from stable rent revenues on long-term leases, while the Institutional Business earns recurrent fees from real estate services provided to national and international institutional investors.

Warntges’s departure removes a long-serving executive just as the company shifts from stabilizing its finances to executing its strategy. Schultheis, as Chief Restructuring Officer, will retain oversight of restructuring while taking on the CEO responsibilities, a combination that signals continuity in the company’s turnaround efforts. The shares of Branicks Group AG are listed in the Prime Standard of the German Stock Exchange. For more details, go to www.branicks.com. The full announcement is available on www.newmediawire.com.
