The 28th Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), the 11th Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo and the 21st Eco Expo Asia concluded with a combined attendance of some 62,000 buyers from 152 countries and regions, according to the organisers. The lighting fairs were organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), while Eco Expo Asia was jointly organised by the HKTDC and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and co-organised by the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
Buyers from outside Hong Kong came mainly from the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, India, Korea, the US and ASEAN countries including Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. HKTDC Associate Executive Director Silas Chu said the three exhibitions demonstrated Hong Kong’s advantages as an international trade platform. The lighting fairs focused on smart connectivity, healthy living and LED display technologies, while Eco Expo Asia introduced an ASEAN Pavilion and a GoGlobal Connect Zone to provide business-to-government, business-to-business and business-to-consumer matching opportunities.
An independent survey of more than 740 exhibitors and buyers conducted during the two lighting fairs found that 63% of respondents expect sales to increase over the next two years, while 34% anticipate sales will remain unchanged. The Chinese Mainland, the Middle East and ASEAN were identified as the most promising markets, each cited by 84% to 85% of respondents. Artificial intelligence (54%), technological advancement (44%) and smart city development (43%) were seen as the top drivers of industry growth, and 86% of respondents viewed the market potential of smart lighting over the next two years as promising or very promising.
The twin lighting fairs, held under the theme “Beyond Illumination”, attracted some 3,000 exhibitors from more than 20 countries and regions. The Autumn Lighting Fair drew some 39,000 buyers and the Outdoor and Tech Light Expo more than 11,000. The Hall of Connected Lighting brought together about 70 leading local and international brands, and a new LED Display Solution zone debuted this year. The Outdoor and Tech Light Expo featured zones for smart poles and solutions, outdoor, industrial and technical lighting, and landscape and architectural lighting, and introduced photovoltaic and energy storage solutions. Exhibitor and buyer testimonials from the lighting fairs are available on the Autumn Lighting Fair success stories page and the Outdoor and Tech Light Expo success stories page.
Eco Expo Asia featured over 340 exhibitors from 15 countries and regions and attracted more than 11,000 buyers, with the number of pavilions growing to 18. More than 30 forums and thematic sessions took place, featuring over 80 government officials, industry leaders and experts, and drawing more than 4,400 visits. Minister of Ecology and Environment of the People’s Republic of China Huang Runqiu said at the welcome ceremony that Hong Kong serves as an important gateway for the country’s opening up and that the Expo’s theme, “Connecting the World for a Sustainable Future”, was timely and meaningful. The event also hosted its first ASEAN Networking Reception and the GoGlobal Connect Zone, which provided Chinese Mainland green enterprises with matching services to connect with Hong Kong professional services for overseas expansion. Further exhibitor and buyer quotes are available on the Eco Expo Asia success stories page.
All three exhibitions adopted the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model, combining physical and online participation through the Click2Match smart business matching platform.
