The 34th Hong Kong International Optical Fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organised by the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association, opened today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai. Running for three consecutive days until 6 November, the fair brings together more than 600 exhibitors from 14 countries and regions under the theme “Bright Eyes-New Horizons.” The event showcases innovative products and technologies spanning smart technology, eye care, and functional design.
The fair matters because it highlights how the optical industry is adapting to major demographic and technological shifts. Patrick Yeung, Council Member of the HKTDC, noted at the opening ceremony that sustainability, innovation, the rise of the silver economy and increased health awareness are emerging as key growth drivers for the optical industry. Smilely Lam, HKTDC Acting Executive Director, added that buying missions from 34 countries and regions, including Indonesia, Malaysia, Korea, France, the United Kingdom and Brazil, have been organised to facilitate trade cooperation.
This year’s fair features exhibitors from Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland, Taiwan, and across Asia, Europe and the United States. The spotlight Brand Name Gallery showcases some 200 renowned brands and designer collections, including AMARCORD, BIG HORN, Brevno, CLASSICO, IAVANSTAR, LOOMINELITE, MASUNAGA since 1905, MINIMA, Modo, MUSTANG, Off-White, PANROAD, RETROCRAFT, Sabine be, Santa Monica, STEPPER, THRASHER, and WEST.
Three thematic labels—Smart Ageing Products, Smart Eyewear, and Green Solutions—help buyers quickly identify products aligned with market trends. Among the highlights, Hong Kong exhibitor Best Power (HK) Enterprises Ltd presents Swap-Battery Bone Conduction Hearing Glasses that integrate hearing aid functionality with eyewear, addressing both hearing and vision requirements for seniors. Italian exhibitor Divel Italia s.p.a. showcases progressive lenses designed specifically for seniors, employing Vision Smart Technology to optimise near-range reading and daily visual comfort.
In the smart eyewear category, Chinese Mainland exhibitor Sichuan Yingmu Technology presents the INMO Air3 smart glasses, featuring a Sony Micro OLED display, Android 14 ecosystem, and a ChatGPT-powered AI voice assistant. Shenzhen GetD Technology showcases its GetD GSPRO series AI glasses, which combine health monitoring functions with Apple Find My technology and support real-time translation in over 145 languages. Hong Kong Lawaken Technology Ltd presents AI Memory Glasses that can organise conversation content via artificial intelligence and automatically generate meeting minutes.
Sustainability is also a focus, with Brevno crafting frames from natural and sustainable materials, and Greatland Enterprise Co Ltd utilising eco-friendly materials made from 100% recycled fishing nets. The fair also organised a Green Booth Design Competition, won by Eyestar Limited.
Industry exchange events include the 24th Hong Kong International Optometric Symposium, taking place tomorrow under the theme “Primary Eye Care in Action: Elevating Clinical Scope and Community Impact.” The symposium brings together seven experts from the Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. The fair continues to adopt the “EXHIBITION+” hybrid online-offline model, with online business negotiations available via the Click2Match platform until 13 November.
