Wellness Eternal has released the October 2026 edition of the Wellness Index Report, titled “Built to Last: The Engineering of Healthspan.” The monthly publication, which draws from The Wellness Index Report Podcast, examines the growing movement to treat aging not as inevitable decay but as a programmable process that can be optimized. The issue arrives in the same month as World Menopause Day on October 18, underscoring the report’s focus on midlife transitions and the hormonal shifts that accompany them.
The report profiles three podcast guests, each tackling a different facet of the aging puzzle. Dr. Steven A. Garan, director of bioinformatics at the Center for Research & Education on Aging at the University of California, Berkeley, argues that aging is driven by the brain rather than simple wear and tear. His research centers on the hypothalamus, which he describes as the brain’s master clock for major life milestones, from adolescence to menopause. On the podcast, Dr. Garan explained why he sees aging as a biological program that might be deliberately designed for, rather than passively endured.
John Whitman, co-founder and chief innovation officer of Nexus Health, brings a systems-engineering mindset to precision medicine. Before Nexus, he spent more than a decade building failure-intolerant infrastructure at SpaceX, including launch systems, the Starlink network and Starbase. Nexus Health integrates DNA, lab results and intake data so clinicians can see connections across the body, with every finding explained and reviewed by a clinician. The platform is HIPAA compliant and SOC 2 Type 2, with zero data mining. Whitman’s conversation focuses on how AI can reason across complex health data while keeping the clinician in control.
David Horinek, inventor of Celliant and co-founder of Hologenix, represents the third trend: wellness woven into everyday life. Celliant is a mineral-infused textile technology that captures the body’s own heat and returns it as infrared energy. Horinek began developing the idea in the 1990s while seeking to support his grandmother’s mobility, and in 2002 he and Seth Casden founded Hologenix. Today, Celliant is embedded in apparel, bedding and recovery products from brands worldwide. His podcast episode with host Lindsay O’Neill-O’Keefe is scheduled for November. Profiles for each expert are now available on the Wellness Index, allowing the public to explore their work, leave reviews and view upcoming events.
The report identifies three signals shaping healthspan: aging as a program rather than wear and tear, AI that connects genetic and clinical dots with explainable findings, and wellness products that work quietly in the background. The full October 2026 issue is available at https://www.wellnessindexreport.com/indexreports/wellness-index-report-october-2026. By framing aging as an engineering challenge, the report suggests that the next frontier in longevity may lie not in a single breakthrough but in the deliberate integration of neuroscience, precision medicine and everyday materials—a shift that could reshape how individuals and clinicians approach the second half of life.
