RHON-KLINIKUM AG Posts Higher Earnings, Invests in Advanced Medical Technology

RHON-KLINIKUM AG closed the first nine months of 2026 with strong earnings growth, reporting a consolidated profit of EUR 32.7 million, up from EUR 25.1 million in the same period of 2025, according to the company’s quarterly statement published on the Internet. The group treated 764,248 patients on an inpatient and outpatient basis from January to September, an 8.3% increase over the 705,830 patients treated in the first nine months of 2025.

Consolidated revenue rose to EUR 1,303.8 million from EUR 1,262.1 million a year earlier, while EBITDA increased to EUR 83.9 million from EUR 71.8 million. The results were supported by a 3.25% billing surcharge on hospital services, accounted for under “other income” through October 2026, which is intended to offset prior increases in personnel and non-personnel costs.

The company said the profit increase was primarily driven by higher capacity utilization at clinics and medical care centers, as well as growth in patient numbers, particularly in the outpatient sector. RHON-KLINIKUM AG also highlighted its strong capital base, with an equity ratio of 74.7%, which it said provides a solid foundation for optimizing inpatient and outpatient care structures.

Dr. Gunther K. WeiB, member of the Board of Management, said the third quarter demonstrates that financial stability and medical excellence go hand in hand. “Underlying this success is the tremendous trust our patients put in us,” he said. “This sustainable basis is what allows us to continue making targeted investments in state-of-the-art medical technology and care offerings.”

Those investments include a new photon-counting computer tomograph at Universitatsklinikum Marburg, making RHON-KLINIKUM AG the only hospital group in Germany with four newest-generation units in operation. The company also opened a new hybrid operating theatre in Frankfurt (Oder), expanding treatment options and strengthening interdisciplinary structures in the Ostbrandenburg region.

Dr. Stefan Stranz, also a member of the Board of Management, said the forward-looking investment strategy ensures the company can continue to operate effectively in a market facing sweeping change. “Thanks to our solid financial basis and our collaboration within the ASKLEPIOS Group network, we can take on and actively shape this transformation process from a position of strength,” he said.

For the full year 2026, RHON-KLINIKUM AG expects revenues of EUR 1.7 billion, plus or minus 5%, and EBITDA between EUR 110 million and EUR 125 million. The company cautioned that the financial year will be significantly affected by the unfolding legislative process, particularly the Hospital Reform Adjustment Act that entered into force on April 15, 2026, and the Statutory Health Insurance Contribution Rate Stabilisation Act adopted on July 10, 2026. While these laws seek to enhance quality and efficiency, the company said they will put hospitals under greater financial pressure in the short term.

RHON-KLINIKUM AG operates five highly specialized maximum- and intermediate-care facilities: Campus Bad Neustadt, Zentralklinik Bad Berka, Klinikum Frankfurt (Oder), and the Giessen and Marburg University Hospitals. With over 19,100 employees, the group treats approximately 938,000 patients annually and is part of the ASKLEPIOS Group. The quarterly statement is available via www.newmediawire.com.
