Trilogy Metals’ Arctic Project Gains FAST-41 Designation to Streamline Federal Permitting

Trilogy Metals Inc. (NYSE American: TMQ) (TSX: TMQ) announced that its flagship Arctic Project in Alaska has been accepted as a FAST-41 Covered Project on the Federal Permitting Dashboard, a designation intended to streamline and coordinate federal environmental review and permitting timelines for major infrastructure and critical mineral projects. The project is being advanced through the company’s 50/50 Ambler Metals joint venture with South32.

The milestone follows Ambler Metals’ recent Clean Water Act permit application filing and positions the Arctic Project as a priority domestic critical minerals development initiative. The FAST-41 designation provides a defined federal permitting framework as the project advances toward the National Environmental Policy Act review process. This could significantly reduce uncertainty and delays often associated with large-scale mining projects in the United States.

The Arctic Project is located within the Ambler Mining District in northwestern Alaska, which is considered one of the richest and most prospective copper-dominant districts in the world. The district hosts polymetallic volcanic massive sulfide deposits containing copper, zinc, lead, gold, and silver, as well as carbonate replacement deposits with high-grade copper and cobalt mineralization. The project encompasses two deposits: the Arctic VMS deposit and the Bornite carbonate replacement deposit, situated on a land package spanning approximately 190,929 hectares.

Trilogy Metals holds a 50 percent interest in Ambler Metals LLC, which has a 100 percent interest in the Upper Kobuk Mineral Projects. South32, a globally diversified mining and metals company, exercised its option to form the 50/50 joint venture in December 2019. Ambler Metals has an agreement with NANA Regional Corporation, Inc., an Alaska Native Corporation, providing a framework for exploration and potential development in cooperation with local communities.

The FAST-41 designation is particularly significant given the growing demand for domestic sources of critical minerals such as copper, zinc, and cobalt, which are essential for electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and national defense. By streamlining federal permitting, the Arctic Project could accelerate the supply of these minerals from a North American source, reducing reliance on foreign imports. Trilogy Metals’ vision is to develop the Ambler Mining District into a premier North American copper producer while protecting subsistence livelihoods.
