Author Ali Zokaee is making a significant impact on the Canadian book scene with an extensive tour of Indigo stores across the Greater Toronto Area. With 39 confirmed book signing events scheduled from April through October 2026, Zokaee is not only introducing his work to new readers but also demonstrating strong commercial appeal. According to reports from the first 16 signings, stores sold an average of over 85 percent of the copies ordered, with seven appearances achieving 100 percent sell-through.
One standout event was his July 25 appearance at Indigo Yonge & Eglinton in Toronto, where all available copies of his book Useful Quotes: True, Practical But Not Pleasing sold out in less than four and a half hours. This success has encouraged Zokaee to continue returning to Indigo locations, including stores where he is introducing his second book, The History Of Music And Cinema: Evaluation Part 1, as well as events featuring both titles.
The tour began April 4 at Indigo Eaton Centre and includes a packed schedule with stops at major locations such as Indigo Bay & Bloor, Indigo Sherway Gardens, Indigo Yorkdale, and Indigo Square One. Zokaee’s appearances are not just about signing books; they provide a personal connection with readers and help grow his audience community. “Each appearance gives him an opportunity to meet readers personally, introduce his work to new communities, and steadily grow the audience surrounding his books,” the press release notes.
The remaining 2026 schedule includes multiple visits to the same stores, often highlighting his second book or both titles. For instance, he will return to Indigo TD Center on July 8 for a second book event, and on August 12 for an event featuring both books. The tour also includes stops at Coles Beaches and various Indigo locations in Oakville, Burlington, and Oshawa.
Zokaee expects to add several more appearances before the end of the year, bringing his 2026 total to approximately 40 bookstore events. He also plans to continue the momentum into 2027 with additional appearances for both books. Beyond Canada, he has begun reaching out to Barnes & Noble locations in the United States as part of a longer-term effort to expand his in-person bookstore presence.
The books, Useful Quotes: True, Practical But Not Pleasing and The History Of Music And Cinema: Evaluation Part 1, are available through major booksellers including Indigo, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Waterstones. The high sell-through rates and growing schedule underscore the demand for Zokaee’s work and his ability to engage readers in person. As he expands his reach in Canada and eyes the U.S. market, his tour is a testament to the enduring power of author-reader interactions in the digital age.
